Did not go outside yesterday (Friday), tropical storm Andrea got in the way. We were holed up in Pecks Creek about halfway between Cape May and Atlantic City. Safe but nothing much to see from there. Continue reading “Atlantic City”
Well two of them are, we took off about 8:30 am Wednesday for the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal, a mighty waterway dividing the northernmost counties of Maryland and Delaware from the rest of the said states.

This shows how tranquil our road is, after the gas company dug a large number of huge holes all the way down the road to replace the gas main, then left them there for a long time without any action taking place. Since the road is difficult to navigate with all the holes there, there is far less traffic, so it is very tranquil indeed! Me, grumpy? Nah!!
I have been busy these last few weeks putting the boat in good order, a few changes but mostly heavy maintenance items. Our bottoms are newly cleaned and painted so we are ready for the off.
She wouldn’t sleep as a baby, boy did she keep me up at nights. I would always do the late night / early morning stint and you can imagine my joy when she dozed off.
Peace and quiet, tranquility, a moments rest, call it what you will but this picture on the left perhaps depicts my feelings best.
It’s hard to believe that she’s now in her twenties, was it really that long ago?
And that’s what I want from you, cherished colleagues, a picture that perhaps describes tranquility in your life.
It can be a special place in the garden, a room, a chair, a holiday destination or as in my case a ‘special occasion.’ (even a ‘rare moment’ perhaps ;))

A dull, wet day today. This is looking south down the road through the woods – about half a kilometer to the lane. The majestic magnolia is now almost in leaf and the rhododendra and lilac are showing nicely, with the buddleia struggling so far.
