Apologies for the delay in judging, and thank you to Gazoopi for reminding me.
The January Competition on the theme of Winter Complaints started off well: three excellent contributions from FEEG, Janus and Christopher.
A pity more entries were not forthcoming but thank you to the three who managed to write thoroughly grouchy pomes!
There can be only one winner, unfortunately, so well done Janus, and I must say, I was rather influenced by your apposite illustration.
One feels an enormous amount of sympathy for the Greek people but the birthplace of democracy and the cradle of Western civilisation has suffered and will suffer for its profligacy.
Greece is insolvent, broke, bankrupt: its government cannot repay its debts and will never be able to do so.
What happens next will be interesting but it may well be painful for Europe and fatal for the Euro.

I don’t like germs,

A last minute entry for the poetry competition. Apologies all, it’s one I made earlier but I don’t seem to be in the right frame of mind these days for writing pomes. It may be due to a combination of grandchildren and decorators, and the recent arrival of my elder daughter’s first baby, born a couple of weeks ago, a month earlier than expected. He was born on my birthday so at least it will be easy to remember the date!

“Islamic State fighters often present themselves on social media as a fearless band of brothers, but a new report finds radicalised jihadis are more likely to be anxious, depressed and lonely.”
Poor chaps, the report doesn’t say whether they had unhappy childhoods or were bullied at school, but help is on the way:
“We believe strongly in a public health approach, where those at risk of radicalisation are identified and helped.”
Jolly good, but is this really the answer? They don’t seem overly bright, apparently before heading off to fight jihad their choice of reading material is “Islam for Dummies” and “The Koran for Dummies”.
What an amazingly varied and inventive collection of entries from you all!
Wonderful interpretations of the “Transport” theme: bridges, bicycles, trams, narrow boats, taxis, wheel barrows, pony trailers, shanks’s pony, and snail caravans.
Thank you all for your entries, but it did make the job of judging rather difficult.

The theme for this competition is Transport, which you may interpret as imaginatively as you see fit: trains and boats and planes, etc., and even ponies – see my illustration below!
Please post your entries in this thread by midnight on the 31st March. No limits on the number of entries per person, and I am happy to have a go at sorting out any HTML failures, and there are admins who can help too.
One tip you may find useful: I used to post my photos on one of my own threads to see if it worked. You can always delete them.

Thank you, Janus for your timely reminder that some of us are not exactly pulling our weight.
Moving day went as well as can be expected, and I dare say I will recover from the trauma in the next few months. Meanwhile, I cannot find anything or rather essentials always seem to be at the bottom of the large packing case we open. We have most of our furniture in the garage and about fifty packing cases still unopened. Packing cases which we have explored line the hall, mostly full of stuff which we can happily live without! I thought I had successfully de-cluttered but it would appear not.
