Catching up on the past

Never one to make it to the cinema I often feel I have missed out. In the past when we regularly went to the Lakes for a holiday we were also members of the local library, where we would descend on the first day and pick up our entertainment for the week – books for the children (as they were then) and a few DVDs for the grown-ups to watch, with a  bottle of wine, cuddled up on the sofa, after they’d gone to bed.
Doesn’t take much to make me happy. Continue reading “Catching up on the past”

50 things to do in my 51st year

I have a significant birthday on the horizon (half a century, not out and all that) –  and to follow the idea of a friend I have decided to make a list of 50 things to do in the year that follows. These things will include, maybe, activities I used to do, but have given up, plus new things I have never tried and new good  habits to establish.

I have three months to plan….

Has anyone else tried this?

What would you put on your list?

Mooning around

Tonight there is a fantastic moon, staring in at the window as I write. It was apparently at its fullest around 6 earlier on this evening: it looks magnificent amongst the few silver-lit clouds . Last night it lit my way home on a mile and half walk through the village, which has very few street lights, throwing a very strong moon shadow. Continue reading “Mooning around”

Grow bag or sleeping bag?

All the family back under one roof. That’s the way I like it.

Scout has just returned from a week in Cornwall, camping, damply, with the Scouts. Must’ve been good growing weather.  All his kit smells rather earthy, so I reckon he slept in a grow bag, not a sleeping bag. Continue reading “Grow bag or sleeping bag?”

I have been intermittently listening to snippets of radio today between home visits and as usual I heard the hype building.

Tomorrow we have to go to school, Techie and I – but just for one AS result and one maths paper result, as the main bulk of Techie’s results are coming out on Tuesday next week. Continue reading “Pre-results reportage”
