Romancing the wind

Quite remarkable

Here’s what I got with the link…

“The guy flying the 3 kites is in his 80s, and he’s from Canada. He comes to the Washington State International Kite Festival every year. His skin is like leather as he normally flies with his shirt off. He is deaf, so when he flies we hold our hands up and wave them for applause. He flies 2 with his hands and the 3rd one is attached to his waist. Enjoy!

You must watch to the end to see the amazing landing of that last kite!’

21/12/2012

So if the world is going to end tomorrow, what should I wear?  “Something apocalyptic”  says husband.  But I’ve got my outfit for the wedding on Sunday and if  Sunday isn’t going to happen, can I wear my new dress tomorrow? At the risk of spilling something on it, of course, and then what, when Saturday dawns as usual? Can’t just shove it in the machine.

Frankly all this “end of the world” stuff is annoying and I think the Mayans got it wrong.  As husband points out, they didn’t make it past the 9th century themselves.  And look at that date!  It’s not right.  21/12/2112 would be more suitable.  And new granddaughter greeted us with her first, or possibly last, smile today.

If they did get it right, however, I would like to say farewell to all cherished colleagues here.  If they got it wrong, then I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Guid New Year to yin and a’.

Timing

As the somewhat startled winner of both December comps it falls upon me to set the next contests.  The question is, do cherished colleagues want them immediately with a closing date during the festive season or do you want to wait until after the final New Year burp?  I’m easy either way, but any suggestions/comments/guidance would be gratefully received.

Photo. Comp. #35 – The Winner

Eclectic, is that a real word?  Probably the first time I have used it.  That’s what they were, a small selection but the essence of the year was there.  Echos of the Olympics in Ara’s 1948 notice  and JM’s golden pillar,  a fine piece of  building by Pseu. , the artwork, well not my kind of thing, I’m more Gainsborough than van Gogh, but to each her own.  Then  couple of events by OZ, one tragic and one dramatic (see what I mean about eclectic).

And the Yuletide Laureate is…..

Backside has been singing along merrily behind me, as we review the tasty fare served up by our cherished lyricists. While shepherds watched, Away in a manger, In dulci jubilo, Deck the halls, O tannenbaum and Ding dong merrily – they are all here, boasting their roasts and sprouting nicely. And what chucklesome lines to savour too! Continue reading “And the Yuletide Laureate is…..”

I should know better. WARNING

What a weekend. IT started in the week when I downloaded a programme to get a file sent. The programme was Frostwire.

First I did an uninstall on both, even tried system restore. Yes both said it had gone… No it hadn’t

Frostwire installed and by default even though I ticked NO it installed a website hijacker called Funmood. It has taken all day to remove this bugger from my PC. Continue reading “I should know better. WARNING”
