This could mean War !!

Shock! Horror!   ITV bans Tim Minchin.

Tim is Australia’s answer to Tom Lehrer, but infinitely more talented and funnier.   He is well on his way to being an Australian satirical hero.   He must be good, he regularly performs with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

This little Christmas ditty was banned on the grounds that it might offend Christians.

If you go to the Youtube page, you can read Tim’s rant about it.
You may have to click on ‘Show More’ when you get there.

Here’s a short extract –

It’s 2011. The appropriate reaction to people who think Jesus is a supernatural being is mild embarrassment, sighing tolerance and patient education.

Talking of fan clubs

The little tyke won’t leave me alone at the computer, and tries to catch the cursor as it moves around the screen. My eldest is calling me ‘mad cat woman’ as I talk to the cat gently about what it is allowed and not allowed to do…

So what I really need now, to distract from the cat is a good caption competition. Does anyone have a good photo for a quick-fire round?

Warning! Outbreak of acute Grocer-itis

I love Pseu’s posts.

Her stories are always interesting and often funny.   Her pictures are great.   Her puns are clever.   If she had a fan club I would be an enthusiastic member.

It is therefore with regret that I observe that she has succumbed to the plague of Grocer-itis that has been sweeping the UK, gathering so many in its wake.

I earnestly hope and pray that she soon recovers. 😀

Nando’s, Mugabe & the Chinese take-away

Sipu recently published the latest ad from Nando’s titled “Last Dictator standing” lampooning bob mugabe, if you missed it or haven’t seen it yet here it is , go and have a look, it will help you make sense of this, Wigget’s latest cartoon published today in my local weekend read.

Sipu also posted a comment linking to a Business Day report which stated that Nando’s had been pressured into withdrawing the ad, well they didn’t, I’m pleased to report that I saw it flighted again today, I’ve now probably seen it perhaps 10 times since its launch on Thursday.

Funny enough, all the ads that I’ve seen have had the Chairman Mao (Karaoke bar) scene omitted, perhaps Nando’s Beijing shareholders hold more sway than                                                those up in Harare 😉

Update (Sunday 04Dec. ( pm))

Nando’s have pulled the ad, press release published in my Sunday Times here 😦

Oh! The cartoon, on the next page…
