The Battle of Thermopylae : A Ballad
Herodotus wrote down the tale,
It covers several pages.
A true account or merely spin?
It must have taken ages.
Themed photo – Val’s Judgement
Copied from Judge Val’s comment, with regard to this competition
“Pseu asked for ‘Sunlight and clouds’, and she got it in abundance. Each of the photographs posted in the first of this competition, are quite simply, beautiful, which has made my task as the first judge, very difficult indeed. Size wise, we’ve all struggled a bit, but with time and patience, we will conquer. Continue reading “Themed photo – Val’s Judgement”
The Ballad of reading in Gaol (Bilby Comp)
For crimes of lust against his fellow man
Wilde had got his come-uppance
Celled sardined with varied beasts
His life was not worth tuppence
A lengthy stretch lay ahead
A lo-o-o-o-o-o–n-n-n-n-n-g sentence Continue reading “The Ballad of reading in Gaol (Bilby Comp)”
A different snapshot for Pseu’s comp
Following Bearsy’s instructions I have clicked on the thumbnail of some of the images I’ve inserted on the Chariot’s hallowed pages. The sizes of these ugly uploads are pretty big. I can emphasize with his concerns about re-sizing. The pre-processing is the problem for me. I know it’s been said before but as a newbie I might have missed the tutorial. What is the best program, by which I mean the easiest to use, for trimming photographs?
As for the photography competition I don’t think I’ll be participating much because in my neck of the woods a guy wandering about with a camera taking snaps would be-
a) called a weirdo. Continue reading “A different snapshot for Pseu’s comp”
Themed photo competition – the first week of 2011
Just a thought. I have been browsing and have seen that the BBC website is doing a themed photo competition and as we have several photographers on this site I thought maybe a theme per week might inspire over here too?
Only one picture per contributor per week posted as a comment in this thread, using the instructions which Bearsy has added on the Main Page Menu Bar.
The theme: Sunlight and Clouds. Closing date Sunday 9th @ midnight.
Val, maybe you could be the first judge? Pretty please.
Two days slow
A small surprise
It was mid-night. I opened the front door to put out the milk bottle just as the radio sounded the first ‘bong’- even though I knew the milkman would not be calling in the morning. Old habits die hard. Continue reading “Two days slow”

One Man and his Boy (Ferret’s Festive Comp)
This was going to be a tough Christmas for my son and I. Ever since my wife done a bunk with Bunk the detective I’ve had to resign from my job and take care of Danny full time. She’s always had a thing for men in uniform. Ironically, when Bunk snared her he was wearing a suit because he was serious Police. As Danny’s sole custodian I didn’t need to join Fathers for Justice and climb up on a high roof. That’s where she thinks she is: on a pedestal. The Queen of Sheba hasn’t had any contact with Danny since she left. One day she’ll fall from up on high and there will be nobody to catch her.
