Poetry competition for May. Results

After a bit of prodding, we have a decent set of pomes to pontificate over.

Gazoopi: Troubled by rain and whoopee cushions, Nice

Janus: A very clever acrostic rather spoilt by a later mention of morris dancing. Minus 29 points straight away 🙂

Bilby: Some very clever wordplay and an interesting take on Whoopee.

Araminta: Some very eloquent words about writer’s block 🙂

So, with all the entries at a high level, I think the worthy winner is Bilby. Over to you……..

Pomes for May. The Competition

Thanks to Gazoopi’s good taste I was made poet of the month for April.

I was listening to a nostalgia based radio program the other day (get the link?), which was basically a DJ playing lots of old records, when a song by Eddie Cantor which has been much covered by many other artists was played.

Reverting to type.

As many of my ex work colleagues will testify, I was always a Unix/Linux man. However, I came to accept that, after six previous attempts, Microsoft finally got it right with Windows 7, a useful and usable operating system

However, having had to replace my venerable Windows 7 laptop as it became more and more geriatric, I have acquired a Sony VAIO as a replacement. This is a fine bit of hardware, but the software is Windows 8. What a pile of doo-doo. Talk about dumbing down, it is pathetic. I am very tempted to junk the Windows altogether and install Linux Mint or similar on it (or junk my old laptop altogether and install its copy of Windows 7 on my new laptop)
