Not fit for office

Vince Cable, the silly old unreformed socialist fool who masquerades as a Lib Dem Minister for Business (not that there is that much difference between socialism and modern day liberalism) has objected, in no uncertain terms, to the very sensible Beecroft Report which suggests there is too much red tape involved in the hiring of suitable and the firing of unsuitable employees, and that the UK economy would grow much more quickly if it was removed.

Beecroft has retaliated by claiming that Cable is not fit for office. I think I know who I believe in. Of course, Wavy Davy is sitting on the shelf, or should that be the fence?!

You won’t believe this but…….

Given that the Anthropogenic Global Warming scammers are retreating rapidly on all fronts, there is still a group of scientists trying to convince the world that animals greatly affect the climate. This time we are not talking recent history, but prehistory and then some.

Some scientists are claiming that during the Mesozoic Era, there was a period of global warming on Earth caused by dinosaurs farting!!! What about that big shiny thing in the sky, then?

Photo comp #25. And the winner is……..

Time for me to put the black cap on and pass judgement upon the 25th Photo Competition. Thanks to all of you who submitted pictures. There were not quite as many as I had hoped for, but there were some really good ones there.

  • LW’s organ is a magnificent picture, although it is a shame you could not get the console in the frame.
  • Ara’s harmonica band was very good, especially as the instruments in question are Hohners!
  • PG’s Personalised Piano Demolition Derby is a sight to behold and the little guy with the trumpet is very cute! I like these pictures.
  • As for OZ’s highly decorative didgeridont, that is a very nice picture. I had a go on one of those while in Oz last year, and while I managed to get a decent sound out of it, I had a lot of trouble with the circular breathing and nearly choked myself! 🙂

Bert Weedon has died…..

I do not like to hog the front page after my recent post, but I have just heard a bit of sad news. Bert Weedon has died at the good old age of 91. I learnt to play the guitar from his book Play in a Day many (far too many) years ago..

Rather more importantly, the likes of Eric Clapton, Hank Marvin, Brian May and many other luminaries of the guitar world also learned to play from his book. Just swap that harp for a Stratocaster, Bert!

It will soon be St George’s Day

The title says it all. It will soon be the day that true Englishmen should relish, as well as being the day that William Shakespeare died and it was also, quite possibly, his birthday.

As far as Charioteers are concerned, it is also the deadline (at midnight)  for

Photo Competition 25.

After my last prod we have seen several more interesting photos of musical instruments, but it would be great if we had still more. Surely all of you have a pair of spoons sitting in your kitchen drawer 🙂

A proper cup of tea

I must confess that rap music normally bores me stupid, and until now, the best rap I ever heard was the “Rap is Crap Rap” by Graeme Garden, I think, on ISIHAC!. However, this one instructs one how to make a proper cup of tea, and so I think it is OK, although I much prefer coffee to tea.

Warning to those of a delicate disposition, contains some rude words!

Only a couple of weeks to go….

Photo comp #25

Come on, fellow Charioteers. There are only two (very good) entries so far. Surely some more of you can come up with some photos of musical instruments.

It does not have to be anything grand, although it could be. Your kid’s school recorder, your toddler’s Fisher-Price drum or even a comb and bog paper. The potential for full use of your imagination is endless. 🙂
