No Hockey Today
1970’s KGH
Across the sports-hall floor
in aertex blue shirts
short, navy gym-skirts
and sugar bag pants
all girls together, we dance.
We change from Scottish Reel and dozy doe
to Waltzing and quick- quick- slow
us tall girls reluctant as men
holding our partner just ‘so’
giggling and treading on their toes.
Pull yourselves together, girls, says Mrs G
or it’s hockey on the top field-
the snow won’t bother me.
To check out the knifey spoony theory.
As I posted earlier a comment on Bearsy’s sticky post:
“OK, as an experiment I have been over to my site and added ‘knifey spoony’ as a tag to each of my poetry posts and then clicked on that tag to see what happens.
It so happens that there are two other posts with this as a tag, but otherwise only my posts tagged with that show up.
So if we decided on a tag that would work for us, maybe that’s all we need to do?”
Thanks for that, Pseu. A super poem that brought back memories, even the colours of the uniform. Though our Mrs G was a Miss W.
Thank you, Boa!
I clicked on “bad poetry” and came straight here, although to be fair, if you look at the categories, Nym, which have just appeared, or maybe I didn’t notice them before, it seems to work fine. I remember this poem, I think, and it is fun, and clever.
NIce one, Pseu; I enjoyed this…I asked the same question before, but what’s with the knifey spoony thing then? ; )
The knifey spoony thing is to do with a message that comes up if you try to add a link, but fail… I had tried to add to my blog roll, but had been unable to , and this message showed. It comes from The Simpsons.
Like it a lot! 🙂
Great name.
Thank you, Isobel.
This must be a girly thing, n’est ca-pas? Haven’t got a clue what you’re talking about. 😦
OZ
OZ,
I remember the “sugar bag pants.”
🙂
