Transformation Complete

. . . so what’s new?

The new look for the Chariot is finished.

Almost everything is the same as it was on the older Chariot, but there are a few extras –

  • Everything works properly.
  • It’s easier to read.
  • It’s now smart mobile friendly.
  • There are no adverts!
  • You can do more with pictures in posts.   For example Featured Image and Subtitle, both used above, and clever handling of larger pictures (not illustrated).
  • You can also do some nifty formatting with text in posts.   I’ll post some examples later.

Post as many critical comments as you like; you may well detect something that I have missed.   Other than that – enjoy!

Good for a laugh – unless you are a feminist.

I came across this video in the Spectator. It is 30 minutes, so those of limited attention spans (e.g.  gadflies) may not have the perseverance to see it all the way through. I must admit I had never heard of either individual, but for today at least Jordan Peterson is my new personal hero.

So, a Good New Year to all Charioteers, past or present.

Happy memories and lang may all your lums reek!

I am not a romantic.

I am not a romantic. In fact, in some ways I might be extreme enough as to be an iconoclast. This isn’t in the sense of being a nihilist — far from it. I’m a moderate monarchist, Low Church Anglican with high church attendance and hobbies that are so sedate that even the most curmudgeonly of Dorset grandmothers approve. Thanks to MyT and The Chariot

It would be fair to say that I have not been totally enjoying the Ashes Series to date. The odd moment of wild over-optimism; interspersed, far too often, with long hours of realistic contemplation of ‘our’ impending doom.

Whatever! I owe it to the shades of Jonners, CMJ, The Boyle, Fiery Fred, John ‘No nickname that I can remember’ Arlott and, above all, my Dad to glue my ear to Test Match Special throughout the long watches of the night whenever the contest for the urn goes Down Under.  Continue reading “Thanks to MyT and The Chariot”

The Centre Fails to Hold

As my cherished fellow Charioteers will know Germany’s federal election was held some two months ago. It resulted in the most unstable and unpredictable Bundestag in the 70-some-year history of the Federal Republic. Perhaps my cheeky vote for Howling Laud Hope and the Official Monster Raving Loony Party wasn’t the most absurd thing to come out of that election. Continue reading “The Centre Fails to Hold”
