April – a busy month

This month I have mainly been working (the paid variety) managing those about to take GCSE and A levels, gardening and trying to keep up with the challenge of writing a poem a day, among other things…. there’s a major garden project going on and normal life to keep up with…. a woman’s work is never done.

The blossoms are suffering from  the heavy rains and high winds….

Wet, windy weather
clusters of blossom blown down
fragile button-holes

girls in dancing clothes
pick up the battered blossoms
to put in their hair

the cat, exhausted
from chasing whirlwind petals
lazily stretches

For the National Poetry Writing Month, NaPoWriMo, which you can find here

Now I see the photo competition is ‘growing’ I shall be getting the camera out in the next few days, given that we get some good light…..

No time to lose. No, time to lose. Make time to stand and stare.... Did you see that?

  1. Re photos, Nym, it would good if it would just stop raining. The growing is carrying on apace, but the photographing thereof is a problem.

I ventured into the garden to see how the apple blossom was faring, it looked lovely from the kitchen, but close up, it has suffered from the wind and the rain.

Projects, well yes, we are coming to the end of the next phase; another bedroom, cloakroom, bathroom, landing stairs and porch. It’s been hell, but nearly finished, and I’m not even going to mention the dreaded ‘flu bug.

I’m feeling much better now it’s all nearly finished.

  2. Yes, Ara… the forecast was a little more optomistic for tomorrow! It has actually stopped here, for the last few mins, but what’s the betting if I go and put ont he gardening clothes, it will have started up again?

It’s a shame about the blossoms, though hopefully this wet is less damaging than a late frost?

I’m sorry if you have had flu… so draining. (Did you have a jab this season?)

Hope all is decorating is done before the weather improves 🙂

  3. No, I didn’t have a ‘flu jab, I’ve actually never had one, Nym.

The decorating is still ongoing. I think they will complete this bit in the next couple of days, and then I need to schedule the next phase. I have no idea when it will be all completed but there another five rooms to go. 😦
