These were taken last year in Botswana. Truly majestic animals! This year at much about the same time, I will be taking picโ€™s of working elephants in Chang Mai Thailand. Not the same sort of thing.

  1. Excellent photos, Toc – thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

And an excellent illustration of the usefulness of reducing your pictures before uploading them.

Here Tocino has shown us 20 great pictures, but he’s only used half the storage that some of you recalcitrants use for one. 7.5 MB for 20, as against 12 MB for 1 monster from Kate, or 5 MB each for a stream of pictures from OZ – and OZ is still doing it, in spite of being asked not to.

Tocino’s pictures are displayed at exactly the same quality as the monsters.

Thanks, again, Tocino, for being so considerate to other Charioteers! You’re a top bloke! ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Cheers Bearsy. I found the solution to the resizing of picโ€™s by doing a search on Google. My search of course was aimed at the Apple Mac facility and I found that there was a facility there already……I just wasnโ€™t aware of it. Perhaps there is something in Word already as well?

What I would be really interested in now, as Iโ€™m sure others would, is advice/help from Boa as to the finer points of putting up a slideshow. I think that you mentioned that was a possibility a few days ago?

  3. Fantastic pictures! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ll write something tomorrow, Tocino. Do you want the information here or on a separate post?

  4. Thanks Zen, do you think you will ever visit again?

I’m pleased you enjoyed them sheona. Other peoples holiday snaps are not to everyones taste.

Thank you Boa, perhaps you would do better to do a separate post. You would in all probability get better feedback doing that as opposed to putting up on my post if you know what I mean. ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S. How about putting all useful tips for the site in one place? The images button springs to mind.

  5. Lovely pictures, Toc.

PC users can use Microsoft Paint to resize images but it is a bit of a blunt instrument, which is why most of us use third party software.

  6. Thanks Araminta. I know that you are not a fan of Apple but the resize and export tool is good and so simple to use.

    Cheers Boa.

  7. A big Elephant Trumpet voluntary for you Toc, great photos here, I love them, plus you have arranged them so well, in some shots, when one passes the other, it’s as though you can see them walking, I love it. I won’t go on about Bearsy’s congratulations, we’ll have to pay to speak to you next ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Great pics Toc, so much better to see them in the wild. By the way, handy tip here if you are taking more elephant pics. Should you be standing in front of a herd of elephants and they charge towards you, don’t panic! Find the nearest telephone box, dial trunks and reverse the charge.

    Hat, coat, taxi.

  9. Cheers Val.

Janus, at my school they invariably had their head shoved down the crapper to bring them down to earth. Never happened to me though. ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. I’m not doing it on purpose! (Whimper)

Boadicea – Help, he’s angry with me again.

No I’m not angry, just exasperated. Nobody loves me, either. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

    Thanks for the comment OZ.

Great pics, should have bought some home for the Gower!

It would appear that there are plenty to spare. The largest free-roming elephant concentration in Africa, between Botswana and Nanibia (146.000).

  12. Fab images, thanks Tocino!! I love that shot of the calf trotting across the road after the herd – and the elephants wet from the river crossing. Such stunning animals.
