Summertime

And about time too!

Is it today that most on here have to run around resetting clocks on walls and appliances?

Would you believe that I have never had to reset a timepiece in my life? Except of course on overseas travel, (I remember traveling what appeared to be due south on the Eurostar and having to adjust my watch by an hour, seemed silly at the time.)

I for one am pleased that you are all an hour closer, I do enjoy watching the midweek sports matches but invariably fall asleep during the latter stages.

There is no doubt in my mind that changing clocks is something that we should consider down here, besides the fact that we are heading for a capacity problem with our power stations so many of our rural homes have no electricity at all, children having to study by candlelight would find an extra hour of daylight a blessing.

Dead bank robbers

Good news!

Here’s the front page of today’s E.P.Herald, apparently 6 would be bank robbers walked into a bank, robbed it of an undisclosed amount of cash and attempted a getaway.

They didn’t get very far, 2 didn’t make it to the getaway vehicle, one wounded, the other surrendered.

The 4 that made it as far as the car, jumped in and they sped away. A high speed chase followed and members of our “elite Tactical Response Team” followed. (Report here.) Continue reading “Dead bank robbers”

Happy St. Patrick’s day to you all

A happy St. Patrick’s day to all at DNMT

I knew what to expect, our local agents of Guiness didn’t disappoint, every drink purchased included a scratchcard and every card was a winner.

On the left is what I came home with today, a stupid hat (I would have loved to wear it at this years World Cup, but perhaps another time,) a T-Shirt (that I actually like and will wear often,)  a key-ring, a stupid badge (not shown) which I gave away to one of the kitchen staff and believe it or not free beers, five of my cards entitled me to another Guiness, sort of defeats the object I thought, I gave mine away!

Special needs people

It appears that some have been offended by literature ridiculing our children (or anybody else’s) who for one reason or another are not ‘mainstream.’

Please allow me to set the record straight.

I want you to open and read stupid e-mails,  I want you to laugh at those less fortunate than yourselves, I want you to laugh at jokes in the pub,  I want in any way possible to remind all of you that ‘there but for the grace of God go I”

The denigration and classification as ‘non-PC’ burns my arse, please, read them, laugh at the jokes,  and then let your conscience lead you.

We were not offended !
The day that we can’t talk about it, is the day that we have lost the fight.

Ball by ball – S.A. vs India

I heard yesterday that our ball by ball commentary is also an unrestricted world wide feed via the internet. I often listen via my computer, seems only fair to allow the rest of the household access to the TV.

I would be interested if fellow members would quickly open the SABC portal and let me know if the broadcast is indeed available in your country.
