Limerick Grand National – results (Judgement Day)

Yes everybody, the waiting is finally over 😉

Who would have thought it? Perhaps the greatest event of our time.

Almost 80 comments on a competition which until now was heading for the doldrums, a dozen runners, all running fairly, no excessive use of the whip, a good clean race. And the winner is………

It’s a photo finish!

Oh dear, punters are going to have to wait while the stewards have a good look at the picture, grab a cup of tea, I’ll be back in a while 😉

As you can see, it doesn’t get any closer than this!

Having retired to the stewards lounge to await the developing of the photo, I had lunch, followed by a couple of bottles of the good stuff and felt it prudent to observe Grizz’s 1st commandment (Thou shalt not booze and blog!)

With too many entries to mention individually, I’ll get straight to the point;

In a tie for second place we have The African Stallion and Four Eyes, yes ladies and gentlemen Ol’ Two Face is declared the winner by the tip of one of his noses!

Congratulations Janus and many thanks to all competitors for making this (in the words of our resident legal beagle) “one of the best ever on the site”

Don’t know about you but I had a lot of fun 🙂

  1. Meanwhile the runners are being walked in grand style around the paddock. I see one or two are getting frisky – and that’s only the connections’ wives. Will the stewards bottle it, I wonder?

  2. I panicked at the first hurdle, Soutie, and fell flat on the flat. It was fun to watch though and no-one broke a leg. Thanks! 🙂

  3. Soutie is just being kind, OZ, because of my strange hopping technique. It’s difficult having long legs and short arms; I am a thoroughbred marsupial, but not a racehorse. 😉

  4. And I am a thoroughbred wolf with something warm and furry in front of me, albeit something with long legs and short arms. But I can’t, in all honesty, dine on a Bilby.

  5. G’morgen, Soutie! Thanks for the great competition and the decision! It was great fun and now I’m wondering how to follow it.

  6. Well done, Janus 🙂

    O Zangado :

I always knew you were a gentlewolf. 🙂

  7. Janus it gives me great pleasure to congratulate you on your well deserved victory. No, really, I mean it. Well sort of.
    Thanks Soutie.

    (FEEG, we woz robbed.)

  8. Sipu and FEEG, I prepared a modest victory speech, proclaiming the valiant efforts of my rivals, as one does. But sod it. I won, you lost! Nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-naaaaaah. (Smiley with protruding tongue.)
