Dirty days hath September
April June and November
From January up to May
The rain it raineth every day
All the rest have thirty-one
Without a blessed gleam of sun
And if any of them had two-and-thirty
They’d be just as wet and twice as dirty.”
First day of Spring here – and weather to match! Bright and sunny!
Glad to hear it, Boa. We are still waiting for Spring and Summer, often heralded but never in evidence. The farmers are even more pessimistic than usual and the poor old gardeners need serious therapy.
September is the best month of the year here in Spain. The days are warm, not hot. The sea is still very pleasant. The nights are cool. The tourists have mostly buggered off.
September is a life of peace and tranquillity after two crazy hot months.
Gaz, don’t you sometimes miss the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness?
Janus, I have lived and worked in four countries, UK, Germany, France and Spain. I have loved all four and have missed something that each offers. One thing I have learned os that life is one big compromise. Spain is my choice for retirement, mainly because of the food and climate. I like to live outside most of the year.
But I sometimes miss my local pub, or a cold frosty morning walk, and most of all the rich green countryside. Nowhere is perfect.
Groan. Almost a week of true Autumn sunshine has surrendered to coud-bursts of Olympian proportions.
