Ja well.
Members may well have read my comments about the standard of journalism in my local read. It’s awful, it’s been awful for years and unfortunately it’s going to be awful for many years to come.
This is a scan of the main story on the back page of today’s E.P.Herald.
Thankfully I only buy the thing for the DT cryptic crossword.
Mark Ogden, the apparent writer of this garbage is of course a Daily Telegraph journalist, in fact the article is credited to “© Daily Telegraph” (full scan of article here)
I wonder how Mr Ogden feels about this?
For the record it was Spain who won 4-2 on penalties to send Portugal packing.
That was the headline we all hoped to see, but sadly it was not to be. I watched the match at a bar in the village – no expats present apart from me and a wonderful atmosphere. Pretty Boy Ronaldo was obviously more interested as usual in his future commercial earnings than getting the job done for the seleção here and now.
I am just settling down with beer and nibbles to watch Germany give Italy a lesson in football, but there again I could be wrong. 🙂

Howzit OZ
I’ve Germany 3-2 in the local sweepstake (includes a carry over from last night’s game)
Good luck with the accumulator Soutie. The odds are shortening in Garmany’s favour. Just getting the cheese and biccies and a fresh cold one. Gardens watered, cat fed, cushions plumped and the NSW due back from shift in three hours. Bliss!

Aye weel, OZ.
Forza Azzuri!
Sorry about your sweepstake, Soutie.
I’ve just seen that Italy has beaten Germany. Is this any way to get cash out of Angela? Will Spain and Italy be able to afford a ball to play with?
Morning all 🙂
You’re not going to believe this, now they’ve got Nadal being beaten by some rank outsider at Wimbledon!
That tennis match was a classic! As was Italy’s humbling of Germany. Even Murray’s dour match against the giant Karlovic was gripping. What IS sport coming to?
