Her well-connected dad is a maths prof. Frederik met Mary – allegedly – in a posh bar during her hours off as an estate agent’s assistant. He speaks impeccable English, of course, and now she speaks Danish and spends a mint on her wardrobe during her hours off as a mum of four. Fred likes dog-sledding and sailing during his hours off as a total layabout.
Was the posh bar in Denmark? I can’t credit there was one in Tasmania. From what I have heard of the place (Tasmania) it gives most people the green shudders! Being Antipodean I ain’t ever going to find out for myself either!

Mind you, the Danish royal family have married some very peculiar people and ran off to run Greece etc. Or was it the other way round? Whatever!

CO, no, in Sydney, I believe. Akshully the Danish royals share many of the same the German forebears as the British. They shopped around for wives – including English gels – then one of their girls married a Greek. King Edward VII (UK) married Alexandra – whose background makes for a good read!
