Smitten by a kitten

Well, considering I wasn’t too bothered about a new cat, not yet anyway, I have been knocked sideways by this little bundle. Here she is (no we still are not sure, but I seem to feel she is a she) on our previous, much missed cat’s chair, quite bold now, though a little out of focus!

and five minutes later asleep

Butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth, would it?

She’s been using my drying rack as a climbing frame, and has just knocked over the green vase of poppy seeds, smashing the vase to irreparable smithereens. She seems to like shredding paper, and found my (very old) copy of ‘Cold Comfort Farm’ very intriguing this morning as I tried to read it. She is into everything –  including the discarded plastic bags as I wrapped Christmas presents yesterday. I’m going to have to be very careful about what I leave around!

I’m just back from a day out with Techie. We went to Broadway, a lovely, though rather touristy town in the Cotswolds, about half way between Ma’s house and ours. We met Ma and her partner for lunch, at a snug pub where Techie gratefully received his 18th birthday present… a donation towards driving lessons! Lunch was good, but afterwards a stroll around Broadway was curtailed by the wind that was starting up, adding a chill factor to the temperature, which was about 6c but felt cold enough to snow.

We came home via Mr Sainsbury for a few bits and bobs… and I couldn’t resist a few Christmassy cat toys! The Little Pip Squeak certainly appreciated the one soft red bauble I opened for her and has been repeatedly killing it!

No time to lose. No, time to lose. Make time to stand and stare.... Did you see that?

  1. Pseu, pussy looks cute (cat). I’m afraid they take over though, but you know that.
Yesterday we had a rare winter visitor in the garden a Goldfinch, as we were admiring the bird and its colours our cat came out of nowhere and now one less goldfinch. This is despite having a bell round her neck. Still she was so proud at her catch that she threw it and caught it for nearly an hour.

Now as for Broadway hope you have visited Snowshill Manor, though probably closed now. We stayed in one of the cottages overlooking the manor some years back. Lovely part of the country, though Broadway is a bit of a tourist trap.

  2. Such a sweetie, but she’ll (?) keep you on your toes for a while!

Re driving lessons, I was talking to someone recently and he seemed quite serious when he said he’s just spent nearly a thousands pounds on getting his daughter a driving licence.

Blimey, I had twelve lessons and that was that; no looking back! Perhaps he was exaggerating. 😦

  3. Minty, probably wasn’t exaggerating about the cost. Round here lessons are around £35-£45 per lesson, not per hour. Average lessons 30-40 plus test costs.

I too had twelve hours driving and passed my test. Since then took IAM test twice, once to pass and once as a refresher really worth it as it cuts the insurance down by about 40%.

  4. Hee, hee, the little bugger has joined the owners club 🙂

The Army taught me to drive, of course – first in a Saracen armoured car, then a good old Land Rover, two weeks for the saracen and a couple of hours conversion to a manual gearbox. ( the Saracen has a pre-select, semi-automatic epicyclic transmission…)

  5. Peerhaps the cat is on automatic pilot too!
Looks like she has landed on all 4 paws for Christmas.
