I read the other day that there had been 75 people struck by lightning in the UK in the twelve months up to April 2010, and I can never remember seeing anything like as spectacular lightning here as Africa provides.
Wonderful – I must say the thunderstorms I remember were spectacular. It was a case of ‘batten down the hatches!’
Toc, Is that show any good? I have never watched it.
Thunder and lightning are wonderful up in the tropics. Cape Town is a bit pathetic on that front. We get incredible wind and rain, but less of the thunder and lightning.
Sipu,
It has a good following here in the UK and is in its sixth year. The new series starts this week. It is of course only light entertainment but the locations are great and the animals are probably better than the actors. That said, it is very watchable and for many, it is Africa at its best and all they will probably ever see of that continent. My wife loves it and I’m sure, in fact I know, that it played a huge part in the selection of our holiday.
As to the weather in Cape Town. Just after we met up, the weather changed for the worse. On the Peninsular/Cape Point Tour it was bloody freezing! I managed to pick up the mother of all colds the stayed with me for the remainder of the tour and back to the UK.
Love the comments Sipu.
Hi Toc, yes the comments are often the best part.
