I’m lovin’ it (2)

Cool or what?

Some of you may remember my good fortune at being lucky enough to win two tickets to FIFA 2010 courtesy of McDonald’s, I wrote about it here.

Here’s one of them, arrived by courier this morning, I actually won two tickets, row 12Β  seat 1 and 2.

It’s been a heck of a performance getting them, McDonald’s sent two events managers down here from Jhb two Sundays ago, I arrived with my documentation and out of over 150 winning applicants from the Eastern Cape my name had somehow or other fallen off the database. The chap in charge was brilliant gave me his details and assured me that although the free ticket event was over that he would look after me, what can I say, it took a few phone calls but as you can imagine I was ecstatic when my tickets finally arrived this morning.

Have a look at the ‘category’

Category 1,Β  face value US$160, that’s a fortune down here (as I’m sure it is anywhere), can’t wait, we’re going to have a jol!

Others may remember my even earlier post (during January) where I applied for tickets for a number of different games, this match was one of them, don’t worry, don’t have a sleepless night I was able to sell my tickets would you believe to a Portuguese mate of mine who had missed the boat (at face value of course :))

I recall being criticized by our (ex)resident Orleans gardener about junk food and the pros and cons thereof, as my title says, who cares I’M LOVIN’ IT πŸ˜‰

  1. Good for you Soutie. I’m sure you will have a great time.

    P.S. I really enjoy a Big Mac once in a while. πŸ™‚

  2. Thanks Janus, now I’ve sorted these tickets out, I’ll be fetching the rest of mine tomorrow!

  3. Cheers Tocino, the money I’m collecting from the sale of my existing tickets for the match (the local S.A. only ‘ el cheapo’s ‘) will be blown on entertainment on the day.

I’m thinking of writing a report after each match to let everyone here know what it’s like, I’ll perhaps have to do the update on this one on Wednesday morning πŸ˜‰

  4. Luckily for me, Danish public TV is showing the England – USA match on Saturday evening. I have afeeling the WC won’t be dull!

  5. Shot* Bravo, it’s very difficult to describe the atmosphere down here, I’ve said electric, and then upgraded to euphoric elsewhere, it’s a countrywide wall to wall party at the moment!

    * a stupid bit of slang that I’ve started using, means anything from cheers, thanks, great etc.

  6. Well done Soutie. I hope you enjoy the match. Who will you support Cote d’Ivoire or Portugal. My nephew is flying out to PE for the England game. When he first bought the tickets, he was not even aware that it would be winter in SA. What do they teach children at schools these days? I hope it will be warmer than it is here.

  7. Howzit Sipu

The last few days have been chilly 5Β°-20Β°C

You’ve still got my number if he needs any help, just call.

  8. Oops, sorry Sipu, didn’t answer your question, Ivory Coast, you know me, Africa 1st πŸ˜‰

  9. I hope you have a great day, Soutie. My son won a couple of tickets to a Scotland-England international when he was at university (not in the same league, I know) and said it was a great day with hospitality, good seats and a fantastic atmosphere. Enjoy yourself.

PS Don’t worry about the ex-resident leaf-sweeper. He continues to make an idiot of himself on MyT and Telegraph staff blogs.

  10. Are you forced to eat big macs for the duration of the World Cup as part of the deal?

  11. Morning all thank you Bilby and sheona ‘leaf sweeper’ πŸ™‚

OMG, cheers, I could probably live on ‘junk food’ if necessary, (probably did before I got married ;))

  12. Congratulations Soutie! Hope you, and the rest of SA, enjoy yourselves. πŸ™‚

As for Big Macs – I can’t stand the things, not for their food ‘value’ but simply for the taste! I reckon that anyone who manages to eat one should be properly rewarded, as you have been!
