Thanks for your contributions, I was hoping to conclude with the correct description of what the sign is indicating, unfortunately I have no idea.
Our St George’s cricket stadium (a FIFA designated ‘Fan Park’) isn’t too far from here, I suspect that it’s one of a series of indicators for that.
