The match of the Century

Brazil is soon to play Portugal, the Brazilian coach has already stated – “If we don’t win I’m going to have trouble when I get home”

That’s the nice way of saying that if Brazil loses the match then he best not return home, exile on foreign soil is always preferable to been turned into a human bonfire by an angry Brazilian crowd (it has happened a few times during national competitions)

The Portugese team is awesome, in their last meeting against Argentina in South America they destroyed the argentinians and left them knowing they stand no chance against them.

Regardless of who wins however, I urge you all to watch this one game, it will be your only chance “ever” of actually watching a real game of BEAUTIFUL SOCCER.

What’s more, I can assure you, this one match will have very few fouls or dirty tricks, both teams will be playing the real game, a show of skills meant as a tribute to their home crowds.

Forget the British, The Uruguayans or anyone else, when it comes to true soccer, this one game will truly be the match of the century.

What’s more, since both teams have already qualified for the final 16 there is a real possibility both teams might meet again for the finals. If this happens then this World Cup might well become the best World Cup EVER.

On Redheads

The little exchanges on redheads in another post prompted this reflection. When I first moved to a Slav country – Serbia – I noticed that the prevalence of Blonde and Red hair, and Blue and Green eyes is much greater in Slav populations than amongst the English. I say English because it seems that redheads are more common amongst the Scots and Irish, though not blondes, I think?

It also seems that blonde and red hair, and blue and green eyes are found more often in women than men – though that might be observational bias 🙂 I don’t think so, though, just running all the familiar faces from the office through my mind seems to confirm it. Anyway, these are all stock photos, except the lady in the red top :-)but they give an idea – all mature ladies, note, no barbies or bimbos here.

Midsummer Night’s Dream

“Fifteen minutes to curtain!”

Anne looked at herself in the mirror. What she saw was a thin, white (ghoulish is the word for it, she thought) face decorated with silvery lines and wisps that looked like leftover Halloween decorations (which is what they are, she observed). Her hair stood out in blue spikes around her (terminally ill looking, she added) face. A long-legged spider was poised on the tuft overhanging her black-rimmed left eye, spots of red and white in the corner nearest her nose.

Her dresser was draping long swathes of spider-filled webs over her wings.

She would never do this again. Continue reading “Midsummer Night’s Dream”

Italy Vs Slovakia

What an awesome game, I wont tell you who won but it had all the ingredients of what a great game is all about, punching, kicking, headbutting, nail biting nerves and incredibly good soccer.

4 goals alone were scored in the last 4 minutes of the game.

A must watch game people, even if you don’t like soccer, this game had the lot   🙂

Next up New Zealand V Paraguay

I got everything ready, coffee, nibbles, warm blankets and three dogs on my lounge in case I want to kick something 🙂
