The Panfilov Division of the Red Army took part in the Defence of Moscow and marched to Berlin. The Division was raised in Kazakhstan and the 28 Panfilov Heroes Park commemorates the 28 Soldiers of the Division who earned the honour, Heroes of the Soviet Union, and the rest of the Kazakh soldiers of the Division. Interestingly, a high percentage of the 28 were Jewish. The park is just at the bottom of the road outside the little estate where I live.

Where, when and what is happening here?

I was alerted to this earlier today and thought it apposite for a Charioteer’s quiet Saturday afternoon even though the spelling and grammar are both a bit iffy.  This item is currently up for sale on eBay and you have to sympathise with the bloke.

Rapid eye movement sleep (REM sleep) is a normal stage of sleep characterized by the random movement of the eyes. REM, the rock group, have called it a day. They were formed in Athens, Georgia. (You know, that Athens, Georgia stuff really gets me. Love America, I really do)

Well, he’s not really a proper pollie, he’s a Lord so I can’t vote for him anyway!

I do like the Denmark and Belgium aspect…..he does have a point though doesn’t he?

Or actually, are we now just a third tier military country and he should shut up? Sad he had to come out with a snivelling apology so quickly – you’d think as a former Sea Lord he knows what he’s talking about!

I would like the opinion of others on this site about a sad event from last week that is just starting to unfold.

Last Thursday morning we received a call from ma in law, my wife’s sister had been found sprawled out in her conservatory dead, she had been there at least 48 hours, looking like suicide. Toxicology reports have confirmed that she had taken an overdose of her tablets and there was a note, citing some married bloke she was going out with, who by all accounts is not a nice guy, married 3 very young kids and known for violence (don’t ask I don’t know).

Now my serious question is if you were taking an overdose to kill yourself would you be lying on a cold stone concrete floor in the conservatory, especially as she is disabled and has trouble getting up, or would you be in bed or an arm chair?

I can’t help but feel there is more to this than meets the eye, also she adores her cats and just left them, which is unlike her.
