Now they really are extracting the widdle…….

That great organisation, the Nobel Foundation have gone far further into the realms of stupidity than when they awarded Barry Obama the 2009 Peace prize.

This year they are awarding it to that corrupt bunch of iniquity, the EU. Words fail me and I better not say any more as I am typing this before the watershed!

Like knighthoods and other gongs, it appears the Nobel Peace Prize is being dumbed down!

This could even make windmills useful, although no less ugly.

Some English guy tinkering in his shed has come up with a very useful way of storing energy using liquid air, and releasing it on demand. This, of course, addresses one of the main problems with windmills, i.e. they are never turning when you want maximum output from them and have to be turned off if the wind is too strong when demand for electricity  is low.

It would take quite a bit of investment in infrastructure to make this happen, but, all the pollies seems so keen on investing in infrastructure! 😦

It would also make a good petrol substitute  and there would be no need for expensive and cumbersome electric cars.

This was fun….

Mrs FEEG and I have just returned from a short sojourn in Madeira, where we consumed much good food and wine. Amongst the fun things we did there was to have a toboggan ride from the village of Monte, down the hill to Funchal. The toboggans are made of wood and wickerwork, and are steered by two fit young lads, pulling on ropes and steering by dragging their feet. It was great fun! I had to pinch a video from You Tube as I did not have my video camera with me!

Another grand day out!

In a previous post, I blogged about the Grand Day Out Mrs FEEG and I had at the Olympic Athletics.

Yesterday, we went to the Olympic Park again, this time to some of the Paralympics Swimming Competition heats at the Aquatics Centre. All through the day, the weather was really good, although Mrs FEEG did embarrass me somewhat by using her collapsible umbrella as a parasol when the sun got really hot!

It brings it all back!

I was popping out to get a paper this morning, when I saw my near neighbour lining up her eldest daughter on the front porch in her new secondary school uniform, ready for a first day photo. Her daughter had a somewhat pained look on her face, probably not because she did not want to go to the new school, which a very good one, but because she realised that, in years to come, that photo will come back to haunt her!

I remember my parents doing much the same thing on my first day at grammar school. I looked ridiculous, because the first form uniform (or year 9 or whatever it is now) included a stupid school cap and SHORT TROUSERS, and by then I was already 5′ 7″ and built like the prop forward I rapidly became! I managed to put on as stupid an expression as my parents would let me get away with, but that photo is still the source of much family amusement.

“Oh, poor kid!!”, I thought 🙂

A grand day out

Yesterday, Mrs FEEG and I trolled along to the Olympic Stadium to see the morning athletics session. It was great fun.

The journey there, after getting up at silly o’clock, was easy; a Thameslink train to St Pancreas, and then, using the Travelcard provided with the Olympic tickets, the Javelin High Speed Train to Stratford International. Very quick and easy.
