Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
With a different twist.
Whacko of the Week
Dr Jolyon Faria and Leeds University for this little gem:
‘They found that pedestrians were up to 2.5 times more likely cross a busy road if someone else stepped out in front of the traffic first. Men were also more likely to follow others into the road than females.’
How much taxpayers’ money was wasted on finding out that, in stress situations, people always look for a leader… All they had to do was ask a soldier, or a fireman, or, well, anybody who works in an occupation where dangerous, stressful situations go with the job.
Sheesh!
Myanmar’s Mandela Moment?
Burma’s pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi is free.
A lady whose example of moral courage I have admired for some time. The question is, how long will the Nazi thugs who run Burma let her stay free? We should not forget that her party won a general election in Burma the last time one was held – in 1990 – but, instead of letting her take her place as the country’s leader, she was placed into house arrest. I hope, for the sake of the people of Burma, that the Nazi Junta has finally accepted that their time has come.
I should be conscripted.
New Direction for any war: Send Service Vets over 60!
I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I’m too old to track down terrorists. You can’t be older than 42 to join the military. They’ve got the whole thing ass-backwards. Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn’t be able to join a military unit until you’re at least 35.
For starters: Researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy.
Young guys haven’t lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. ‘My back hurts! I can’t sleep, I’m tired and hungry’ We are impatient and maybe letting us kill some asshole that desperately deserves it will make us feel better and shut us up for a while. Continue reading “I should be conscripted.”
And then there’s this…
As the clock struck 11am, the nation paused to silently mark the anniversary of Armistice Day, when peace returned to Europe at the end of the First World War.
But in London the solemn moment was marred by a small group of protesters calling themselves Muslims Against Crusades, who burned a model of a poppy and chanted “British soldiers burn in hell”.
They held banners which read “Islam will dominate” and “Our dead are in paradise, your dead are in hell”.
Tolerance.
Christian woman sentenced to death in Pakistan ‘for blasphemy’
The court heard she had been working as a farmhand in fields with other women, when she was asked to fetch drinking water.
Some of the other women – all Muslims – refused to drink the water as it had been brought by a Christian and was therefore “unclean”, according to Mrs Bibi’s evidence, sparking a row.
The incident was forgotten until a few days later when Mrs Bibi said she was set upon by a mob.
The police were called and took her to a police station for her own safety.
Shahzad Kamran, of the Sharing Life Ministry Pakistan, said: “The police were under pressure from this Muslim mob, including clerics, asking for Asia to be killed because she had spoken ill of the Prophet Mohammed.
“So after the police saved her life they then registered a blasphemy case against her.” He added that she had been held in isolation for more than a year before being sentenced to death on Monday.
Tolerant, innit?
Smart kid.
Tee hee hee. The opposition forgot about playing the whistle 😀
At the going down of the sun…
