Miracles Can Happen
Five weeks ago I was told that it was amazing that Bearsy was still alive, that he might not survive his operation and that he might not wake from the procedure.
I am quite sure that one or two medics might be less than impressed with ‘Dr’ Boadicea who has asked questions, queried decisions and made sure that whatever experts are required have been brought in ASAP. But, to be honest, I cannot fault the medical care that Bearsy has received – at the ‘working’ level it has been magnificent. Continue reading “Miracles Can Happen”
Update
Bearsy has been moved to a ‘half-way’ re-hab ward, where there is more emphasis on therapy.
First Name
Now I know why I need the Chariot. If your e-mail service didn’t work in the last hour – you can blame me. I wouldn’t be one bit surprised if the e-mail I’ve just blasted to my electricity supplier burnt the system to a cinder…
For some reason, not at the moment ascertainable, Bearsy put the electricity account in his name. I have a query on the bill, but due to *!*!* Privacy laws I cannot get an answer to that query. I have explained on the phone and by e-mail – and all I’ve got is the ‘Standard Reply’: Bearsy must contact them directly and make me an ‘authorised’ person … I have asked whether the electricity company will accept ‘my’ money to pay the bill that I’m not allowed to query… Well, we all know the answer to that. Bearsy
On a cold, foggy night in November 1959, a group of seven unknown boys knocked on my door. The reason that they were there is not relevant to my story. One of those boys was Bearsy.
From that time on he was my friend. He was always there, somewhere – utterly dependable, and honest. It was probably inevitable that we should, finally, marry.
Wednesday morning my Bear collapsed. He was in surgery within three hours – and although there seems to be some improvement, he has not yet regained conciousness.
He’s a stubborn b*r, and we all hope that that stubbornness will bring him through.
I have debated whether to post this, but we have been a little ‘community’ for a long time now.
Thank you all.
In Body Only…
Some may have read my comment earlier this week that I had checked in, on-line, for my return trip to Oz on Monday morning. I was delighted to find that the flight was half empty and that I could organise a complete row of seats all to myself on both flights.
Alas! The best laid plans of mice and … I arrived at Heathrow on Monday morning, checked in for the 10.50 am flight with my over-weight baggage and was informed that a flight from Singapore had been delayed due to ‘technical’ problems and, therefore, my flight was delayed. I was given a voucher for food, and finally boarded at around 2.00 pm.
I slept most of the way and arrived in Singapore at 10.30 am – one hour after my connecting flight had left, and another 11 hours to wait for the next flight. Continue reading “In Body Only…”
Happy Birthday Janus
I do try to remember people’s birthdays – it helps when they remind me!
