What’s in a Name?

I’ve finally admitted that I loathe being called Boa. I chose the name Boadicea as my pseudonym because the ‘original’ is one of my ‘heroines”. Somehow the abbreviation ‘Boa’ doesn’t do her credit – and I can’t quite identify with a snake or a glorified feather frippery…

I haven’t made a huge song and dance about it – and no one needs to build a shelter – or suddenly change what they write. It is a bit of a pain to type and I do know that I’m probably a little odd about names. Continue reading “What’s in a Name?”

A Reminder

Certain Charioteers have taken it upon themselves to pontificate about The Chariot’s content, appointing themselves arbiters of  ‘good taste’.

Some have, in the past, tried to mould the Chariot to their biases and prejudices and they have failed. Any future attempts will also fail.

This is a Discussion Forum. As such, all opinions are welcome. Any attempts to stifle debate with political correctness or by claiming that a subject is not suitable for discussion are most decidedly unwelcome.

By all means express your attitude to other people’s attitudes and opinions – but be prepared to have your cherished notions challenged.

I am the sole judge of what is acceptable and any criticisms of my judgements are, ex legibus Icenorum, contempt of court.

Looking for Spot!

Zen’s post about Neil Armstrong is an ‘urban myth’.  Nonetheless, events in childhood can have a very strong influence.

I’d read most of her other ‘twin’ books, but the story of  the Chinese twins caught my imagination: round doors, a different form of writing and girls not being educated. At eight, I vowed I’d get there one day…

Even stranger is my reason for wanting to visit Australia.

Until I was six and a half, I lived in a flat just down the way from the Oval Cricket Ground. At that age, I moved to Merton Park – Wimbledon for those who don’t know London – into a house with a garden.  Almost immediately, my father bought me a dog – which was black and white and which I, with typical six-year-old inspiration, promptly named “Spot”. I Was Accused of Murder – Who Am I?

Mission Complete – Thanks Everyone!

This quiz was inspired by my daughter, who claimed that murderers were far more interesting than comedians! Just to make it a little harder, I decided to limit my murderers (or accused murderers) to women.

It was  was quite difficult to find ten women, especially as I wanted their ‘cases’ to be ‘different’.  There are two American, one Australian and seven British women – and that’s the only clue that I’m giving for now!

Janus

Janus wrote this on the 4th February.

I’ve tried to contact him on the e-mail address that he’s registered under, but I don’t think he looks at that very often. Bearsy has tried an older e-mail address, with no success.

If anyone has any idea where he can be contacted can you let me know.

Janus, if you are looking in – your audience awaits!
