Disingenuous

Obama with halo

So the UK was ‘wrong’ to vote for Brexit – according to Obama.

Setting aside the philosophical question whether a majority of a country’s citizens can be ‘wrong’ in any meaningful sense, maybe the sanctimonious President could answer this:

Would the USA join any club which suborned its sovereignty to the club’s management?

Would even the Democrats agree to the club deciding on US immigration?

Would the US fancy Juncker more than Trump or Clinton as its figurehead?

No no no, as I thought. Obama wins the headlines with his judgement but loses all credibility.

  1. PS if political philosophy doesn’t bore you too stiff, the citizens of a state agree (usually by default) that whatever the accepted democratic process leads to is ‘right’ for the state. That is the context in which Obama is cheating. He may judge that from his standpoint the UK was ‘wrong’ but his remarks seem to imply Brexit offended som universal principle. Foul!

  2. But what he lacks in relevance he makes up with presentation and meeja-appeal. Mr Clean will always have an audience around the world.

  3. I received this from one of my ex colleagues:-

Remoaners held a ‘March For Europe’ across the UK.

The EU referendum was heavily biased towards the Remain campaign and every dirty trick was used to try and get us to stay in the EU. Remoaners still lost they need to GET OVER IT, Brits democratically voted for Brexit.
The Remain Campaign (EU Referendum) had the following…
The majority of grassroots campaigns supporting them…
The Tory Party government supporting them…
    The Shadow Cabinet supporting them…
The majority of Tory MPs supporting them…
The majority of Liebour MPs supporting them…
The majority of Libdumb MPs supporting them…
    The Green MP supporting them…
The majority of SNP MPs supporting them…
The majority of Plaid Cymru MPs supporting them…
The majority of Sinn Fein supporting them…
The majority of Tory councillors supporting them…
The majority of Liebour councillors supporting them…
The majority of Libdumb councillors supporting them…
The majority of SNP councillors supporting them…
The majority of Green Party councillors supporting them…
The majority of Plaid Cymru councillors supporting them…
The majority of Sinn Fein councillors supporting them…
    Heseltine & Clarke supporting them…
    Bliar, the Kinnock’s & Mandelsen supporting them…
Nick Clegg, Alex Salmond & Nicola Sturgeon supporting them…
“Call me Dave” & Gideon supporting them…
The majority of trade unions supporting them…
The majority of the Lame Stream Media supporting them…
The majority of telly luvvies supporting them…
The majority of so called “comedians” supporting them…
    The biased BBC supporting them…
    All foreign leaderships supporting them…
    The EU establishment supporting them…
All the global financial institutions supporting them…
The majority of economists supporting them…
The majority of big business supporting them…
    The Bilderbergers supporting them
The majority of the big banks supporting them…
They had an extra 48 hours tacked on for registration, due to the registration website going down for 2 HOURS?!…
They had an additional £9.5 million spent on leaflets via the government…
They had additional (estimated) £500,000 Government website advertising done for them…
The Remain campaign “made use” of the death of an MP to boost their campaign…
They lied over and over again to encourage people to vote to remain…

Yet still complain it wasn’t an even vote?!!

  4. Obama seems badly advised and often totally ignorant. The trade agreement between the USA and the EU has been scuppered, mainly by France. So where does he go from here with his stupid “queue” idea? I expect May was too polite to ask him how much longer the world has to put up with him. Only a couple of months really.

  5. I’ve just this minute finished watching a BBC program on ‘Why Britain voted for Brexit’. There was not one mention about regaining sovereignty, or Dave’s so-called renegotiation. Simply that people concentrated on immigration and ignored all the ‘real’ economic factors.

The only true comment, for me in the whole programme was that people voted from their hearts. And that was denigrated since the Brexiters were too stupid, too racist or too old to know what they were voting for. They lost – time to trigger Article 50 and tell the Remoaners to get over the fact that they lost.

  6. I did get very cross with one of the offspring who insisted we must remain. As I pointed out, I had been very much in favour of the original Common Market, but gradually became more and more disillusioned. I used to teach a module on the EU for Sixth Form General Studies and my research showed me just what a rotten organisation it had become. By the time I had finished saying my piece, there was a stunned silence. Those of us who are “too old” knew that GB had managed perfectly well before we joined, even to the extent of some of us working in France and Germany with no hassle. The “too stupid” are those who cannot see the dire state of some economies, with youth unemployment around 40 or 50% in Greece, Spain, Italy and
    Portugal.

btw, anyone seen Gazoopi? He used to tell us that everything in Spain was hunky-dory and his Frau lectured us about racism.
