We’re eagerly awaiting Rake (tv), series 4 to make its way here (North America).
A touch of explanation would assist a backwoods Brit!
Yehaaay!!! And one Blue gets the blues and punches a hole in the wall. Oh dear! How sad! Never mind! All we need now is another correct result tonight (in the effingrendum) and I may feel constrained to buy a slab.
Aw, the hell with it. Why wait ’til tonight?

Maroon, Blue, que?
Janus, mate –
Every year there are three NRL (National Rugby League) matches between Queensland and New South Wales – the State of Origin series, so called because every player must have been born in the appropriate state (not that this is strictly adhered to now).
The Queensland team wears maroon strip (maroon is pronounced “marone” (mah-roh-n) – nobody is quite sure why, but it is) and the NSW team wears blue (pronounced “blue”).
The Marones have won 10 of the last 11 series.
A slab is 24 cans (tinnies) of beer, plastic packed on a cardboard base.
There will be a test later. 🙂
Thanks, boss! 😎
Hi Bearsy.
Great news. !0 out of 11 can never be a bad record. Totally gutted that I could not find a live feed for the game itself and had to Google for a game report.
It follows that I totally agree with Corey O. that the NSW team are ‘dirty bastards’.
Moving on, can I be the first of the ‘corrupt/terminally stupid’ tendency on The Chariot to congratulate my fellow authors who will be, I now believe, celebrating tomorrow morning?
I’ll add my thoughts on the night’s events in due course.but, in truth, I’m really not that bothered if ‘Leave’ do win.
It will be interesting times for us all and I will, as ever, support my country.

I was taught never to count my chickens – but I’m getting more hopeful.
Good morning, Boadicea.
The chickens are counted. The forecast is 52:48 for Leave. The pound is at a record low for 30+ years and the FTSE is predicted to be down by 8% when trading opens.
Not a problem, of course. Initial volatility, over-stated by a bunch of people trying to make short term gains.
We are still the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland We will survive.
It would seem so – hopefully, I will get a new British Passport at sometime. A nice Blue One!
It will all swing back in due course – it always does.
Given the thread on which we are posting, and my known allegiance to Heart of Midlothian Football Club, I have little problem with the current colour of my Passport.
But, happy to go back to non-Rangers blue, so long as it still says:-
‘Her Britannic Majesty’s Secretary of State Requests and requires in the Name of Her Majesty all those whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance, and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be necessary.’
It’s the ‘without let or hindrance’ that has always rocked my boat. I view it as a sort of civilised version of:-
‘Are you looking at me, pal?’
I’ve been up all night watching with joyous amazement as the results came in. All I can say is that the people of England have administered a comprehensive hoofing to those who so richly deserved it for ignoring the people of England all these years and I am going out to buy a second slab (see above). So there!
