Wilt thou be…..?

Our Valentines?

We are enjoying the return of several of the chariot’s prodigal sons of late, but no sign of the lost distaff side returning. Boa herself, Sheona, FoE, Arrers and Christina still keep us in check though.

So now it’s time to whisper sweet nothings to our ladies, in the hope that others will be tempted back by our unbridled passion. Innit?

  1. Probably too much political stuff here, sends them mostly running for the hills!
I regret to say most women tend to be averse to controversy and are naturally rather ‘liberal’.
It is interesting that over the years as we have all got older, most of us have migrated to the right, some of us were there already of course. Naturally along the way the touchy feely brigade drop out and they were mainly women.

This risk aversion is one of the main reasons I have eschewed feminist causes. The truth of the matter is that most of them can’t cut it. As someone who spent ten years in a fairly rough totally male dominated industry I met very few women who could cut it on the shop floor. So why would one expect them on a sometimes controversial blog? Not their natural milieu.

  2. Well, my mate Backside is going to exhibit his gentler, less confrontational self for 14th. That should do the trick. πŸ’˜

  3. Mmmm that’ll be the day!
Ah, then I’ll look forward to not being called an emotionally stunted fascist on Sunday!!

  4. Just off to buy spousal unit’s ‘valentine’ gift……two rhubarb roots!
    rhubarb, rhubarb rhubarb etc etc.
    Honest guv!

  5. I pointed out to husband that it’s Valentine’s Day on Sunday. “Hmm” was the response. I would have forgotten about it if you hadn’t reminded me, Janus. But since we’re currently in France and I’m going shopping with a friend tomorrow, I’ll try to get him some proper Sardinian Pecorino as a romantic gift.

  6. Rhubarb rhubarb rhubarb rhubarb.
Yes I bought 4 roots, to go between the Tayberries that are on order. ( Hybrid 3/4 raspberry,1/4 blackberry, very prolific fruiters)
Spousal unit not displeased with his present.
Will enable mass production of his favourite rhubarb and strawberry pie.
The strawberry bed was established last autumn.

    Exit stage left muttering rhubarb.
    Off spinning today.
Tomorrow I shall make clay tablets to run on the internet, that should please FoE!

Janus, it occurs to me that climatically tayberries would do very well in your neck of the woods, What you don’t need are loganberries Poor flavour by comparison..
