Could I suggest another small competition to find an appropriate name for use along with Bruce and Sheila to designate Australia’s “third sex”?

I suppose we could use Norrie, but I think of that as a surname.
Briela would be an obvious choice 🙂
Good morning, Sheona.
I think of Norrie as a first name as it is the standard Jock contraction for ‘Norman’ and I know several.
Having clicked your link and prowled the web, I see that the Norrie who has won the right to be an ‘X’ rather than ‘M’ or ‘F’ is one of our own. Born in Weegieland and emigrated to Perth (Oz version) at the age of 7.
His parents must have suspected that they were going to be leaving for the Antipodes because they christened him Bruce Norrie Watson. So, it must indeed have been a surname in his case; presumably his mum’s maiden name if they were following the common Scots practice which resulted, for example, in one of our finest ever goalies being blessed with the name Robert Primrose Wilson.
I actually started the prowl because I watched the second video in your link. Norrie threw me by saying that the ‘X’ gender on hir (I think ‘its’ is rude and ‘their’ is clumsy) driver’s licence caused confusion. When
pulled over by a UDI, the cops would struggle to distinguish between Arthur and Martha.
This was obviously a familiar term to the broadcaster so off I went to google and to find that not knowing whether you are Arthur or Martha is yet another bonzer Aussie colloquialism and simply means that you are confused.
It appears to mean something completely different in gay patois but I will spare you the details.
The internet ramblings which Fellow Charioteers send me off on with their posts are one of the joys of the site.
Ore Shuce!
Minus one “e”.
What about Newt? Ain’t that a beaut? 🙂
The irony is that “X” refers to the female chromosome.
I’m still not sure about my own choice. Can you explain Briela, gazoopi?
Sheona, I guessed it was Bri(anShi)ela! 🙂
Lunatics running the asylum? We have our own here in Maryland.

Bruce and Sheila, surely ❓
Yeah, Bruila! 🙂
