That was the satire that was

I can still hear Millicent Martin belting out the intro, almost fitting her take on the week’s news into the theme tune (just like JW!).

50 years later we say goodbye to one of its leading
(Foot)lights, David Frost.  RIP.

  1. If I had time (I’m off to the UK tomorrow), I’d go through my photos and find one of Millicent belting out a song at one of my mother’s parties. She certainly needed no microphone!

    RIP David Frost.

  2. For some odd reason I always recall the sight of Millicent Martin singing with Lance Percival and his stick-out ears in the background. And I do well remember David Frost’s TV interviews with Savundra and Enoch Powell. (I thought Powell was impeccable in his answers.)

  3. Always found the lot of them too complacent/smug and self referring.
Interesting to see how David Frost changed sides when he had made a few bob and married into the aristocracy!

I will say he had a good exit, dropping dead on the QEII is a good way to go, pity it wasn’t after the speech and then he could even have collected the fee posthumously and made it even better.
I always rather envy people who drop dead like that, a brilliant exit.

    RIP.

Don’t forget that offer of free coffee in London, Boadicea.

I may well take you up on that, Sheona. I think I might need a few ‘escape’ days!
