More Fascist Crap!

Well then, not content with persecuting the peasants in London, the fascistii of the Olympics are now to persecute the athletes!
Jolly good, let the pain be shared equally, after all, they are the cause of the whole shooting match.
Evidently the Olympic pub in the athletes tower penal accommodation blocks is dry.
Even worse, the only drinks are CocaCola and Powerade, nothing else!  (Can you imagine it?){The horror of it all!!!}
And even worse than that, no food or drink can be bought in from outside into the security area.

So unless the athletes leave the village they cannot get a decent civilised meal or libation. I predict that the pubs of the East End will be doing a roaring trade!

Having viewed the videos, I gather that the accommodation will subsequently be apartments, whom for I wonder, I wasn’t aware that we were importing pygmy asylum seekers in quantity as they are patently unfit for human habitation!

It has now got to be one of my chief morning entertainments, watching the fascist stranglehold noose tighten on any poor benighted hapless creature of the UK that falls under the Olympian ukase. It gives me serious reason to give thanks that I have escaped, whatever goes on here it ain’t half as bad as there.  I wonder if there will be a rise in emigration subsequently, sentient beings considering this to be the last straw?

When is Coe going to be renamed Zeus?  I bet the ancient Athenians are spinning in their graves!

Do lightening bolts come out of his arse yet?

  1. Not even Heineken? They are the official suppliers of beer to the Olympics.

  2. Evidently not, the whole athletes place is dry, or so it is reported by 3 papers at the moment. Whether they have it right or not remains to be seen.

  3. Mind you, Heineken in the UK is like making love in a punt. Tastes much better in the Netherlands!

  4. christinaosborne :

I think you need to uber careful about your consonants there!!!

Quite safe, I spent quite a lot of my working life in the Netherlands and been on a few Rugby tours there, so I know what I am talking about 🙂

  5. It is the same with Budweiser. The East European original is delicious whereas the ‘Me-ri-can headache in a tin is chilled to within an inch of its life in order to to distinguish it from p*ss, which is warm.

  6. CO: if shame had anything to do with it the US would have been depolulated long, long ago. (With each passing day I love my German citizenship more and more. Even my bloody septic father has accepted that the only thing he gave me was a cangue)

OZ: Budweiser is not beer. I once had to carry a pack of Budweiser for someone. I was grateful that I did not see anyone I recognised as the shame would have been too great.

  7. As the Canadians chant: “You can’t get drunk on American beer!” It doesn’t suprise me if the village is dry. I think training with alcohol went out with brylcreem and wooden rackets.

  8. Has it not always been so?

Did Beijing, Athens and the others serve alcohol?

I think an alcohol free accommodation area is a good idea.

  9. An article in the Telegraph says that hotel room prices are slumping (a relative term given that they are still very high) as a result of the absence of bookings for the Olympic period. LOCOG was required to block book 40,000 hotel rooms, representing 600,000 bed nights, in order to satisfy the selection committee in its bid application. Many of the rooms have not been taken and so the hotels have to reduce prices to attract visitors at short notice. Given the sky high airline prices and the lack of notice, foreign tourists are unlikely to apply, while many UK visitors will only make day trips to London.

This was exactly what happened in South Africa with the World Cup. People there were told that there would be a massive shortage of hotel beds and so many spent considerable converting their own homes into B&Bs. The tourists stayed away in their droves. People were able to book one or two nights at apartments right on the water front at almost give away prices. With all the extra beds created, those who ran guest houses on a regular basis then had to compete with the newbies who were desperate to recoup some of their losses. Everybody suffered, except the company that block booked the hotel rooms and who took a significant cut from those that were filled. And who ran this company? Sepp Blatter’s nephew.

While the World Cup was a success in that it all ran very smoothly, South Africa did not begin to earn the financial benefits it had been lead to expect by the FIFA mafia, while several of the stadiums built are white elephants, not least of them being the Cape Town Stadium.

As beautiful as many people believe it to be, it stands empty much of the time because it is too far away from the soccer playing masses. It should have been built in Athlone, the originally proposed site which needed developing and which served the local soccer watching community. But FIFA it vetoed on account that the area was not beautiful enough and did not have a classic view of Table Mountain or the ocean, despite its being in the heart of the soccer playing masses. The ANC committee, who then ran Cape Town, took half an hour to submit to Blatter’s demands.

The current DA government, left holding the baby, is now trying to force Western Province Rugby to move from historic Newlands to Greenpoint, in order to pay for the cost of maintaining the new stadium. New rules mean that Newlands stadium no longer meets health and safety requirements.

Of course a fortune could have been saved if the Newlands stadium had been used, but its capacity was short by about 4,000 of the number of seats FIFA required for a semi final match, so rather than upgrade it a new stadium had to be built for precisely 4 World Cup Games.

I wonder to what degree expectations will have been met in this country following the Olympics.

  10. Very interesting sipu, reinforces what I wrote elsewhere about tourists fleeing from London, people refusing to be fleeced and the whole thing is a gigantic puff for the bigwigs with the poor UK peasants being left the bill. As chris said, the only event that ever made money was the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles where no new stadia were built.

Re alcohol, there should be a choice available. If competitors want a drink they should be able to purchase one, especially as they can’t bring it in from outside. I can see a lot of trouble with youngsters, unable to speak English being robbed and attacked in that area outside their secure zone. Once the have finished their competitions there are many who want to party. Stratford is hardly to be known for it’s refined manners! It is a wonder that the bookies are not accepting bets on how many will be stabbed.
