Results of Photo Comp #24

Thank you to those who entered the competition. I warn you my standards of judging are entirely subjective and based on my personal culinary tastes.

Janus, I am not sure what to say about your entry. Perhaps I should leave it to Flanders and Swann. “Eating people is wrong”. So, I am afraid, your entry, for all its technical wizardry, cuteness and artistic originality, fails to cut the mustard.

Christopher, your repast looks very beautiful, though I have considerable suspicions as to what any of it is. There is also the minor question of whether it meets the tacit rules of the competition in that it not actually posted on this site, only appearing as a link, but we will ignore that. While worthy of an honourable mention, I must confess that being fearful of its origins – my last trip to Korea went badly-, my taste buds are resisting offering their total endorsement.

Mr Mackie, thank you for your colourful entry. Can I be honest and tell you that despite its reputed deliciousness, it leaves me with a slight twinge of heartburn? It’s a personal failing on my part, so don’t take it as a reflection of your obvious photographic skills.

OZ, you were in with a real chance, you really were. Had that entry been submitted by any other, it might have scored higher, possibly even winning. But from you, I expected something a little more appealing to the lupine world. Red meat is what I was looking for.

So, it is a toss up between Arra and Feeg. Hmm. Tough one.

Araminta, your offering is positively mouthwatering and I was very tempted to award you the golden light meter, but for all round perfection, the prize goes to……….. FEEG. Well done.

  1. Woah! I am honoured indeed, that is the second time I have won when using a foody theme. I wonder if that says anything about me :-). Ara, if it is any consolation, I really liked your steak and chips 🙂

I will have to get my thinking cap on to set the next competition.

  2. Good call Sipu, although in my defence you have all seen all the good stuff from The Cave before. I was frantically searching for the shots I took of large chunks of a legally culled water buffalo grilling gently on the barbie in a northern Mozambique field camp . It was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the prints were hard copy and I am too busy hunting to learn all the techie stuff necessary these days, so I hoped a more gentle digital approach might swing it. 😀

  3. Tsk, OZ.

How could you have so miscalculated?

It was a straight choice between fillet steak and roast beef. What’s this buffalo nonsense? 😉

  4. The buffalo steak was the full-on, gory business. The salmon was supposed to be a calming factor.

    Sob!

  5. Ara: It was actually stuffed and herb encrusted pork. Our roast beef would have been much more sanguine, something I am sure OZ would approve of! :-).

  6. FEEG – My only reservation about the NSW is that she likes her steak “bem passado”. For me, as Ferret would agree, if you could have it up and mooing in half an hour, put it on the plate right now.
