The Black Teenager Stephen Lawrence Darrell Desuze

Here is hoping we will now see an end to that dreadful phrase pairing. The crown lies elsewhere.

  1. Sipu,

A tragic tale and no mistake, no doubt the mother protested to the last that Darrell was a good boy and would never harm anyone.

However call me a dozy furball when I ask “What phrase pairing?” I may have missed some previous debate or am simply too fick to get it, but I am honestly at a loss.

  2. Ferret, go to Google and type in ‘Black Teenager St’ and see what is predicted for you. When I did it, Google predicted ‘ephen Lawrence’. The phrases ‘Black Teenager’ and ‘Stephen Lawrence’ have been inextricably linked in the media and by the media, since 1993. Other terms that are associated with that particular individual are ‘white racists’, ‘murdered’, ‘racist attack’. etc. While I genuinely abhor his murder, I would like the media and politicians to recognise that such crimes do not always point to a black victim and a white perpetrator. In fact, I am entirely confident that the reverse is more likely to be the case. So, in the light of these events, I would like to see the media talk about the “racist murder of Richard Bowes, by the black teenager, Darrel Desuze”.
