(Spoken with a French accent)
“I despise you little people behind the barriers who would give it for free. I am a French star and only pay for it because I can and because I must be in control “.
But OZ, he doesn’t pay for it! One of the charges against him is “abus de biens sociaux”. His mates put all the bills on their companies’ expense accounts. The word “société” in French can mean a company, hence the adjective “social” can also mean something connected to a company. Presumably these guys were expecting some kind of pay-back when DSK became president of France.
Fixed that for you, Sheona, even though it still doesn’t properly cover it. My little rant was prompted by the existance of French privacy laws which only exist to protect from the public eye the malfeasances of those arrogant public figures otherwise guilty and the ‘immunity from prosecution’ legislation that French politicians enacted and constantly exploit as a back-up.
I’m sorry, I had a French shepherd for lunch today and he didn’t agree with me.
Sorry about your French shepherd – hope you feel better now. Many French people say that they don’t want to know what their politicians get up to in their private lives and ended up paying through their taxes for Mitterrand’s mistress and illegitimate daughter. But to have a possible President of France with a past like DSK’s seems a bit much. Any state visit he made would have meant all the chambermaids would have needed round the clock protection!
