Poetry Competition anyone?

Did I see a comment about restarting the poetry competition, anyone?

How about a Roald Dahl-esque poem, telling a fairy tale, but not one he did in his Revolting Rhymes Collection…. so not ‘Cinderella’ – ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ – ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarves’- ‘Goldilocks’ – ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ – or the Three Little Pigs.

Closing date December 10th. Post a link in comments below…

No time to lose. No, time to lose. Make time to stand and stare.... Did you see that?

  1. sheona, same question. Far too conservative to buy such crap for the boy., he had to make do with the brothers Grimm.
What are they? Cheapo rhyming couplets?
Please give us the form pseu.

  2. Thank you, Boadicea for the YouTube clip to answer the question! And Bearsy… golly that was keen. I guess I should stick to the rule and not read it until all are in?!

  3. Like Sheona, I hadn’t got a clue what you meant – so I thought I’d go digging!

I didn’t think there was a rule not to read entries until they are all in – I think a second read is probably necessary for most entries anyway!

  4. Boadicea: It’s my personal rule: so I see them all in one batch and then decide and don’t get swayed by the comments. Seems fairer to me 🙂

  5. Pseu

Right! That’s probably not such a bad idea!

I was a little concerned that you might take it personally 🙂

  6. This little piggy went to Parliament,
This little piggy flipped his homes,
This little piggy got his snout in the trough,
    This little piggy got loads.
    And this little voter went…
“If you think I’m voting for you next time, no way Pedro”.

  7. OK Chaps. Time’s up and now that my distractions have waned (except for the new kitten’s antics) I shall put my mind to reading and enjoying the submissions and then getting around to judging them. Maybe tomorrow at this rate!

  8. I really, really tried Pseu!

    I’m no poet…
    … and I know it 🙂

I managed half a ‘pome’ – the first few verses and the last few – but got lost in the middle!
