Jet Lag!

Good Morning everyone!

We finally made it! I didn’t find much that I ‘must have’ in Changi – I’m determined not to go back with an extra suitcase again this year!

The flight was horrendous. I can usually fall asleep on a clothes line, but travelling in a nursery of screaming children is not conducive to even my sleep… To be fair, there were a number of beautifully behaved children – but, unfortunately there were about three who seemed to be able to detect exactly when I was about to drift off into slumber and set up a pretty good imitation of a wailing fire alarm… 😦 !

So here I am at 4.00 am and wondering just when I’ll be able to synchronise with UK time… I’ve finally got internet access. Bearsy still has to get a new sim-card for his mobile connection – he reckoned it was too wet and miserable yesterday to venture to the shops!

  1. G’day Boadicea

Glad to see you made it safely. Sorry that it was such a rotten trip.

Enjoy your time in the UK. Mrs M and I are certainly enjoying ours in Australia. She even watched Origins III last night. Bloody good game. I was, of course, supporting Queensland as they play in maroon just like the Jambos.

As I said, I hope that you and Bearsy enjoy your time on R&R but trust that you will soon be returning to OZ so that he can carry on his great campaign against the appalling apostrophic usages which seem so prevalent Down Under. This was the first sign which I saw under an open Australian sky when we finally managed to get out of Sydney Airport – more on that topic later.

  2. Morning Boa. I’m sure it wont take long, have fun.

G’day JM, good spot! So the super final won’t have one of ours in it this year, those Crusaders were terrific. I heard that with their stadium out of order they had to travel over 95,000 km’s this season (that’s a lot of air miles) well done to them.

  3. Boa, glad you’ve made it safely. I find the irritations of air travel increase with age – not relevant to your good self, of course.

JM, you are at risk down-under. Remember Rupert Murdoch, hacker-in-chief, is an Aussie. So hide your mobile and change your passwords. 🙂

  4. Morning Boadicea! Curse those children! Welcome to the rain infested cold island called pommie land!

Interesting so many charioteers are on their hols…I’m off to Leatherhead next week for four days for a training course….not the greatest tourist spot!

Soutie – Thank you for your kind comments about the Crusaders – they have been inspired this year by the plight of their home city and I for one will be cheering loudly from my sofa on Saturday morning as they beat those flash in the pan Reds from Brissie! I’m sure the SA teams will bounce back next year!

  5. PPS – I didn’t do that much research – got this one because O2 are the only ones I could get a micro-sim for my iPhone from. Seems like a fair enough deal, though.

  6. Welcome to the Sceptred Isle, you two. You do not seem to have brought too much of the Aussie sunshine with you :and sorry to hear about the kids on the plane. Unfortunately, I believe it is illegal to throttle the little dears. The only thing that helps me in such circumstances is a large quantity of Scotch, but that is no use if you need to drive at the other end. 😦

I am sure you will soon adjust to BST and will be wide awake while the sun should be shining but isn’t.

  7. Thanks for the welcome! I think we slept through the English summer on Tuesday morning – I’ve given up trying to ‘dodge’ the showers!

Bravo – snap! Have just got an O2 sim card. Pretty good deal. I ‘float’ through London. I’m based in Brighton at the moment… heading for Kew tomorrow and down to West Sussex for a few days. I plan to be in London visiting archives at some point!

  8. While you were away The Chariot broke through the 200,000 hits mark. Congratulations to you both and I am sure it will go on to even greater things.
