Results of Third Photographic Competition

The theme was Contrasts.

Thank you to all who entered the competition for their wondrous and very varied interpretations of the theme.  Whilst I very much enjoyed seeing all your photographs, including those which you chose not to put forward for consideration, it made choosing the winner extremely difficult.

I did have some favourites, however, so a special mention for Val, Pseu, Jan and Boadicea for their innovative approach.

PapaG’s non-entry, Salsa Tomatoes, was just amazingly vivid and colourful.

Those  of Soutie, Bilby and Oz were, in my opinion, definitely calculated  to appeal to the Judge, and they succeeded admirably.

But the one I thought truly a winner, for its wonderful contrasts of shadow, texture, colour and clarity of light was Warm Spring Morning in Bonita Springs.

So, I declare Coldwaterjohn the winner, and Boadicea takes second prize for Textiles!

Over to you, CWJ.

PS: I haven’t looked at the results of the poll yet, but it will be interesting to see if voters agree.

  1. Thank you Araminta! You had a very difficult decision to make. Personally I would have seen it as a tie with at least a couple of the other entries, which were equally deserving.
Give me a day to figure out what topic I will choose for the next invitation for entries. I am going to try to make it a little more specific, and I also want to learn how to master the Poll mechanics.
Is a fortnight an appropriate entry window – any thoughts? I don’t have any problem with that period, but just wanted to know if potential entrants are happy with that timeframe.

  2. Congrats CWJ

I’m quite happy with the 2 week ‘window’ it’s been very successful so far 😉

  3. So I thought with typical lupine cunning, “I know, for this competition I’ll post something definitely calculated to appeal to the judge. Araminta will never suspect a thing……” 😀 😀

Good choice of the winner, Araminta and congratulations to CWJ.

  4. Thank you folks for your comments – a fortnight it shall be.
I shall post a separate entry to fire it off, with guidance on what will qualify, to focus the mind!

  5. Thanks Ara for your time – a lot of fun all round. I did think CWJ ticked all the boxes, though as a photo my favourite was Bilby’s who I glimpsed to have been voted second in the polls.
