  1. I know next to nothing about Africa, as you know, but I have the impression that Winnie is not one of God’s best children, despite her marriage to Nelson who allegedly can do no wrong.

  2. Well, I can understand that Winnie would behave like that, but I am disappointed, though scarcely surprised, that the SAPS would not give 100% support to the two police officers. We are bombarded with warnings concerning our driving habits, rightly so. The death toll on SA roads is extremely high. It is not easy keeping prejudice at bay when one reads such articles. This sort of thing is entirely commonplace, I can assure you.

  3. “No one is above the law.”

Seems politicians all around the world need to be reminded of this. Shame that the policemen did not get the support that they should have done.

  4. One of my claims to fame, is smoking a cigarette outside of her restaurant in Soweto. 🙂

  5. So the Rainbow Republic is as racist as they come, it seems. What if it had been two black officers who had stopped Winnie’s car? These guys will have to watch she doesn’t set some of her heavy mob on them – she has form in this respect. What a sorry state SA seems to be in.

  6. Omani traffic cop stopped the Finance Deputy P.M. for speeding back in the 1980s – told him he was exceeding the speed limit by a large margin. The Minister told us by way of explanantion as he arrived late for a function.
“What happened?” The Minister chuckled, “Diplomat that he was, he then told me that I was far too important to the country’s development to risk killing myself by speeding!”
The cop deserved a medal on two counts: for having the nerve to stop a car with Ministerial plates, and for his quick-wittedness when he realized who it was. In those days being over the limit by 30 kph was an automatic jail sentence…
