Second Photo Competition

Oh gosh! Groom, lick, scratch, lick, lick, groom!  What can I say as first choice of the first photo competition, after spending half the night getting instructions from Bearsy and Boa on how to size an image?  Thank you too, Pseu and Val. After all my abortive efforts at Creative Writing it seems all I had to do was to aim my 130 Euro point-and-press thingey at an Alentejan sunset one night and Bingo, the Wolf’s avatar appears in all its glory!

OK.  Being lupine, I have a longing for things natural.  Give me a shot of forest, landscape or horizon that might interest a wolf.  Closing date two weeks hence, 12.00 hrs, GMT, Monday, 24th January, unless anyone has any objections.

To avoid any possible misunderstanding, 12.00 hrs is MIDDAY.

I’ll do my very best to give you the results on Monday evening.

Just loping around. Extremely fond of roast boar in particular, meat in general and cooking on the barbie. Fish is good too.

  1. No objections whatsoever OZ, I’m relieved we have two whole weeks to come up with something.
Now then, forest, landscape or horizon? I think I’ll………

  2. Well done, OZ. Great picture and I did see it in its full glory with the trees ‘n that.

I will prowl the rugged lands of my abode and try to capture a fitting image, taking care to avoid predators that prey on cameramen. Or I might just draw you something. 🙂

  3. Would it be correct to say that a forest or landscape with something edible included would appeal to a wolf?

  4. Sheona, sweetie, being the judge I couldn’t possibly comment, but forest and landscape with something edible might just attract my attention.

  5. Sob! Boo! Hoo! Discrimination! We’ve never had wolves here!

I’ll see if I can find something that might entice a wolf to contemplate emigration.

  6. Boadicea – Dry your eyes. If it were not for the grandcubs I’d be back in Kangaroo Point in an instant. Sincere Smiley.

  7. JW – I suggest a sortie to the spooky Campsie Fells. This wolf, at least, will give you free passage.

  8. Araminta Go for it. Please post photo and co-ordinates of goat – just to save my time, you understand.

  9. The Tasmanian Crown Princess of Denmark – allegedly neither predatory nor dull-witted – has just given birth to twins – one of each. There is no truth in the rumour that she plans to name them Romulus and Rema.

  10. Are you partial to wild boar, OZ? I wouldn’t have thought an experience wolfie like you would have trouble with one of those. Nice bit of crackling. 😉

  11. That’s a challenge indeed, Wolfie. I may be able to capture a photo of a feathered friend, but one covered in fur maybe more tricky!

And have you decided if the photo should actually be taken between now and the closing date as briefly discussed on another thread??

  12. Jan – Wild boar is my absolute favourite and my freezers are full of assorted joints and other offaly tasty bits. Even though I say so myself, I have a Danish neighbour who is a slave to my crackling. Psst! If you can come up with a photo of a big boar in a forest glade or suchlike, you would be in with a chance. 🙂

Pseu – Feather or fur? I’m not proud as long as it tastes of meat and no, I don’t necessarily expect a photo taken between now and the closing date, just an original from your own archive would be fine.

  13. Psstt OZ!! Yes, i was thinking that myself. Might have to make do with pics of where they were a moment ago. They have a habit of trotting out of shot at the critical shutter moment. ps ‘Offaly tasty’ 🙂

  14. Psst Jan! – Think Homer Simpson and a donut and you’ll have some idea of what wild pork means to me.

    Drool!

  15. No sunshine and no photo opportunities yet this week… so if I’m stuck, are we doing the ‘taken this week’ rule, or not? !

  16. I might struggle too Pseu, it’s like continual night time with this dank overcast weather. I haven’t seen the horizon for days, never mind take a photo of it 🙂

  17. Pseu – Looks original to me.

    Bilby – Yes, it is.

    Araminta – No, it’s not.

    Drool!

  18. Pity! You might have won. 😀 Good looking horse, though – I remember it well. Almost Arthurian in that light.

  19. What’s more, the zebras haven’t been scrubbed with peroxide. And…..and this is a very big and…..I have been strictly forbidden more than once to give the pony a terminal dose of natural selection.

Pseu – In my world their ‘pyjamas’ are usually known as ‘hide’, but see para 1 above. Nice sheep, by the way – a bit of a dark horse if it wasn’t a white-ish sheep.

I’ll bid you one Arthurian/Arwen-style horse, Araminta. Any advances, anyone? Do I hear a tethered goat yet?

  20. Evenin’ all. Would anyone who has not yet whetted The Wolf’s appetite (photographically speaking) please note the edit in red I have made to the introduction for this competition.

I have to go out in a moment – back in a couple of hours.

    Thanks

  21. Cheers Soutie – I’ve always fancied going on safari and, erm, interacting with the local fauna.

Anyone else going to poke their lens over the parapet? Slightly less than fifty hours left.
