CWJ travelled extensively with his family, having worked in eleven countries over thirty years. A keen photographer, holding a Private Pilot's Licence, he focuses mainly on landscape and aerial imagery. Having worked in the Middle East extensively he follows developments in that region with particular interest, and views with growing concern, the radicalisation flowing from Islamic fundamentalism, and the intolerance for opposing views, stemming from it. Thankyou, CWJ. I enjoyed that.
Nice one CWJ.
She has a glorious voice – she is Miriam Makela’s successor really in terms of African vocalists, and is rated as Africa’s premier Diva.
She is married to a Frenchman, speaks four of five languages, and sings in several of them.
She is Beninoise, from the Fon people in Benin (Dahomey), who were sold into slavery three hundred years ago and were shipped to Haiti…
She sang at Obama’s Inauguration Ball, but let’s not hold that against her!
Oops, premature hit on the button. Meant to say; ‘I won’t if you don’t :-)’
Thank you for posting this, CWJ. I saw her in concert and actually danced on stage with her and dozens of other audience members in her show at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo amphitheatre last year. It was, I believe, her first show in Hawai’i. She wanted everyone to sing and to dance — even if we could not sing or dance well, she said that we should all sing and all dance.
