Idols S.A.

We currently have the 2010 edition of Idols S.A. (yawn!) playing out down here. I was recently told a funny true story.

During the auditioning stages the judges attempt to ease the contestant’s nerves by engaging in small talk, you know the stuff, where are you from? what do you do? etc.

Here’s how it went;

When asked what he did for a living the contestant replied that he sold chips (crisps to most of you) and cooldrinks to the public.

“Oh” replied the judge “so you’re a vendor?” *

“No, no” replied the contestant “I’m a Zulu” 😆

*Vendor sounds like Venda, geddit? Still not? The Venda are a separate ‘nation’ (tribe) in the far north of S.A. (Have a look here)
