  1. There’s lots of possibly distressed shouting coming from the sitting room. Are Engerland not doing well?

  2. Pseu; you make me laugh -your interest/knowledge of beautiful game is about as good as mine!

  3. Hello Bearsy…sorry to hear you’re having a rough time with the site – and I’m genuinely very sorry as well if I’ve been the cause sometimes since I’ve probably been one of the worst offenders on here of late.
Er..at the risk of wading in where angels fear to tread etc, I’ve always got on with Ferret and will miss him. You are both very good company, like everyone on here, quite simply and I do hope it all ‘blows over’
Apologies Bravo, for going off topic; this is the only post I can get into to comment on tonight. I buggered up my computer earlier on… (:

  4. Is it nearly over yet?

I’m off to support the man. The shouting has stopped….. I can’t stand the shouting.

  5. That’s one of the good things here. My fella can’t stand football.
We once almost got into an argument about it, when France played ENgland a few years ago. Then we realised neither of us gave a monkeys at all!

  6. Bravo, Bravo (I’ve always wanted to type that).

Are those clouds as nature made them or have they been subject to a little Photoshoppery? I merely enquire 😉

What’s the matter with Bearsy? I think this is an excellent site. And where the hell has Ferret gone? Sounds like more has happened here than in the England/Algeria match.

  7. Jan, I don’t use photoshop at all, too much ‘jiggery-pokery.’ I do have an ‘electronic darkroom’ just as, back in the day, I used to have an actual darkroom. Unless I’m in the mood, I tend to use the standard settings on my camera, (Sony alpha 350,) and crop the pics and adjust settings – contrast, brightness, colour saturation, sharpness and depth of field to bring out detail – there is always a lot more in most photographs than is usually seen from a standard automatic print, and this was the case in steam-powered photography, also, of course. The only difference nowadays is that it’s a lot less messy.

The thing is, the sensors in a camera work, in the main, with average values. That means, of course, that pics tend to come out flatter and less vibrant than the eyeball view. What you see above is, to the best of my limited ability, what I saw in the sky 🙂

Moscow is, in general, a low-rise city, flooded with a generally undisturbed and ever-changing light, especially on a weekend or holiday after rain when all the carp has been washed out of the air and traffic disturbance is at a minimum. Before I came here I was expecting a grey and colourless city, but the colours are, in actual fact, quite amazing.

  8. They are amazing photos, Bravo. I’d probably be out there every night snapping away at the sky!
