Adam – If it ain’t heavy metal it ain’t real music! 😦
Ferret,
It’s a kind of piss take. But I do sincerely like the stuff. I tried to think of a way to be brief and this is all I could come up with. Maybe I ought to turn it in, in this place and the other.
A bit of JP
Ferret,
That is genius! Frighteningly accurate. I think that clip has restored my faith in the blog format.

Why be brief? Be brave. Do your thing. Or…….yeah, turn it in. Good idea.
Oh go on then.
This sums up avante-garde jazz for me:
just found the one I was looking for, their best by far (yes I do have the album, on vinyl and CD)
Adam said: “I suppose we could attempt to discuss that”.
Here are some of my favourites
What counts as avant garde jazz? I know so little jazz I wouldn’t have a clue…
It’s bloody hard to play it, from a classical training.
Debussy hardly counts as jazz, but there are one or two of the earlier piano pieces that have a jazz flavour. I was trying to do Golliwog’s Cakewalk this afternoon and got a bit tied up in knots. I’m amazed it’s still out there, what with the penchant for censorship/PC in these matters…
Adam – Sorry. If I want to ‘enjoy’ avant garde jazz I shall strangle Das Fürballen (my two kittens) – very slowly. Ferrtet has it bang on the nail with the clips from The Fast Show.
A question, if I may. Does your avatar include in the background a blow-up of the album cover of “In the Court of the Crimson King”, in which case I may be prepared to make allowances?
OZ
Claire, I think Debusey does indeed count–thanks for the contribution!
Oz,
Yes indeed. I’m am utter, utter, utter devotee of King Crimson. Whilst I do love the avent guarde jazz, I must admit Ferret’s clip had me in stitches.
Adam – Allowances made. Welcome from me for what it’s worth. It’s not my site and the Boss is away.
Heavy metal fan.
Adam,
Are you taking the pish? 🙂

Avant-Garde?
Maybe….It does it for me
I prefer the Duke

Is this a discussion?
FEEG,
Beat ya to it old boy. Look up. 🙂
Hugh,
Does it have to be?
Janus, no, merely a self indulging display of music we quite like.
Ferret:
Whoops, missed that one. It shows great minds think alike!
Here is jazz I do like:
From South Africa
Some great music so far–I’ll post a bit myself when I’m at a computer with sound later tonight.

Fair enough, Oz.
