IS – Let me tell you a little story about Fiji.
I was sitting in a bar in Nadi one night and fell into conversation over numerous beers with an elderly, erudite and very distinguished Fijian gentleman who had served in the British Army in WWII and whose son was still serving. The former had recently returned from a visit to the latter. Why, he wanted to know, did he have to queue up for interrogation at the “aliens” desk at Heathrow while the Germans and Italians against whom he fought strolled freely through the “blue” channel?
I had no answer and could only hang my head in shame.
