An Appeal

There has been some discussion, both here and on MyT, about ex-soldiers who are unable, for whatever reason, to re-settle into civilian life. Here is an organisation trying to help some of them. Please take a moment to sign this petition:

With the ever growing number of forgotten ex service personnel whose lives have been affected by homelessness it is time for the government to step in and help. We all think they deserve better after going through the traumatic experience of war.

The Soldiers Off The Street Organisation have come up with one solution with the following:

RAF Sealand

RAF Sealand is a former Royal Air Force station in Flintshire, north Wales. Under defence cuts announced in 2004 RAF Sealand was completely closed in April 2006.

There are probably many places within the United Kingdom closed down and empty but lets start with RAF Sealand!

RAF Sealand is not derelict and has all the facilities to offer the best treatment in line with the Military Covenant that the government should honour with all ex service personnel.

RAF Sealand could open in a very short time to accommodate homeless ex service personnel many with alcoholic and Drug addiction with many of them with mental health problems brought on by wars that the government has sent them to

  1. Bravo

Please feel free to fix the link in your post and then delete my comments (They make the place look untidy 😉 )

  2. Signed up. It is a bloody disgrace the way the govt treats its forces. Why one wonders are the Ministry of Defence not doing this off their own bat as a part of their responsibilities to them?
Too busy pfaffing and giving money out to immigrants to look after their own!

  3. If they want a social worker, give us a bell. I am behind supporting our military. They have been treated with total contempt by this bunch of kleptomaniac dictators.

BTW, I see many ex servicemen (but no women) living rough. When you consider what they went through to be treated like this it is a crying shame.

    Signed the petition.
