For those of you who, like me joined MyT late 2008 or after, you’ll have missed John Mackie’s holiday blogs the first time they were posted.
So treat yourselves. Click on the link to his blog, and if you don’t soon find yourself chuckling, seek medical attention. Think Bill Bryson, but with a depracating Scottish (or should that be Scots?) tone and fine comic writing.
Anyone coming past Das Boot last night or tonight would have seen me laughing until I cried. I must have looked a bit like the mad woman in Jane Eyre . With shorter hair. And funkier pyjamas. Oh and I haven’t set fire to anything.
Then come back here and tell me I’m right.
I followed these delightful adventures the first time, Isobel and I have been popping in to savour them again. You are right!
Hopefully the utter silence from anyone else means they have gone off to read the posts.
The utter silence from me is because I can’t find them, Isobel. Regards to cat.
Sheona, just click on John’s name on the author’s blogroll on the sidebar, or go directly to http://www.embraforever.wordpress.com.
Enjoy! 🙂
Cat is asleep on the unmade bed at the moment, happy and well after his little outing yesterday – see my blog, hey there’s homework for you, two links to find!
No, Is, sorry. Today offered the first opportunity this year to GET OUT INTO THE GARDEN! A few patches of snow didn’t stop me relocating a pile of branches to a new area way down stream. Lovely exercise at last!
Enjoy Janus.
Then look later.
I posted that last night quite late as a sort of antidote to the news emanating from MyT…
Well done Isobel for pointing these out. Loved the “orfe” reference. Very good stuff. 🙂
He’s a natural isn’t he. If they ever get around to publishing the best of MyT blogs I reckon he’ll be the star turn.
Hey wait a minute. Why don’t we do just that?
CLAIRE I may have a business idea…
Isobel, thanks for the mention.
I’ve now re-read them all and they’re not completely bad, in my opinion.
Blushing raw red beetroot, by the way. But thanks again. You are very kind.
My pleasure John. Just remember me when you get syndicated.
And not kind, highly entertained.
Is it Scots or Scottish btw?
Isobel: John, yes very good; very entertaining! Loved hte one about Dunsop Bridge. When we go there, as to Formby beach, I seem to spend all the time restraining me littl’uns and trying to stop ’em chucking themselves in the water…
I just find myself starting to smile, then snigger a little, then chuckle, then laugh, then the next thing I know I’m crying with laughter. That’s what makes me compare him to Bill Bryson, because it’s the accumulation that works for me with his stuff.
Did you read Christa’s post too?
Yes, it is very wry…No, haven’t read Christa’s…she’s in my neck o’the woods though, geographicall speaking, so will have to check her out.
Then you have a treat in store. Also check the other two, Ex-P’s made me laugh a lot, and the last showed that there has long been trouble with trolls on MyT.
