Robbie Williams

I saw Robbie Williams this morning.

He was going for a walk. I smiled at him but he didn’t see me. I was on the bus.

I see him quite a lot. If I meet him on the street he’s very friendly.

He’s still quite stocky though he goes for several walks a day. But it doesn’t seem to worry him. He has a lovely coat. It’s a sort of soft  champagne colour.

Unusual for a Westie.

I still haven’t understood quite how he got his name, but he’s a minor celebrity in North Lambeth.

I like animals, colour, the Thames, reading, cooking, writing, eating, walking. I don't like bullies, butchers' shops, crowded public transport, Nigel Farage.

  1. Mrsoldmovie and I met his Dad when RW was still with ‘Take That’, Mr Williams Snr was the entertainments manager at an Hotel near Chester, nice guy.

  2. Oh right, well, Isobel; maybe I have to consult here. Darn it, a daughter has just left and she was, whisper, a fan of the two-legged one. She may have just had something to say. 🙂

  3. I once saw the real RW driving past as I stood at a bus stop on the Riviera (I know my place) He was driving a convertible with one of the blonde Spice Girls beside him. One of them was consoling the other after some bust-up or other. Anyway I’d rather meet your Westie friend. They are lovely little dogs. A friend has a couple of Westies, Bogart and Bacall.

  4. Hi Sheona and Araminta
I saw him again this morning, very bright-eyed and waggy-tailed. He’s a super little dog, obviously well-loved, confident but not pushy.

My mother used to like watching Robbie Williams, the biped, though she preferred Ronan Keating. Though her absolute favourite was, and remains, younger grandson from the time when he grew up to be a good-looking young man. While she was still able to go out and about on her own, he would spot her across the road, yell “Hello Granny’, and swoop on her for a kiss and a bearhug. She absolutely adored it.

  5. Sheona: He sometimes has a serious sniff, but doesn’t seem to take offence. I guess he knows there’s no real competition. Anyway, he’s used to me fussing Rosie the dog round the corner. He’s far more disturbed if I pay attention to another cat!

  6. Hello, Isobel (and Cat)

I’ve never encountered a champagne Westie, let alone one by the name of “Robbie Williams”. A lovely breed; all the good rough and tumble traits of a terrier, but with a sweet nature. Are you familiar with Cairn terriers? I knew one called “Leo McDougall O’Leary”, which might lead you to believe he was a bit of a mixer, but he wasn’t. I loved him very much, but he wasn’t mine. He caught a ferry one day and came to a sad end.

I hope to catch up with your holiday posts, soon; have been in a bit of a dither lately. 🙂

  7. Ah Bilby, my parents had a cairn terrier after they got married. I have faint memories of her. she died when I was four. She was a pediigree reject, having an undershot jaw. Her name was Snibby, because ‘she looked like a wee snib’. After all these years I still don’t know what a snib is!
Lots of pix of her with my sister (first child photo syndrome), The two were great friends from my sister’s babyhood onwards.

  8. Pressed post prematurely. Butter fingers.
What do you mean ‘he caught a ferry’?
It’s good to see you. I was aware you weren’t around, but not that anything was wrong. HJope all is orted now.
Did I send you the emails from Gozo SPCA?
Just posted another wee one on my page, but not about my holiday this time.
I’m for bed soon, so if I don’t exchange words with you again tonight, sleep well.

  9. I don’t know what a ‘snib’ is either, Isobel, but ‘snibby’ is a sweet name. Bless all our dogs (and cats!), past and present, and let’s be thankful for memories of childhood. I do know about ‘first child photo syndrome; no baby photos of a joey in our family. 😉

(Mind you, I only saw one baby photo of my sister, so I’m not complaining; lots from toddlerhood and after!)

  10. Unfortunately, Leo wasn’t well supervised by his owner and hitched a lift to Ireland. Poor little chap disembarked at the other end and was run over. I was quite fond of his owner too, but it took me a long time to forgive him. He was a bit mad to be honest (the owner, that is).

Yes, I’ve been away. Nothing is wrong, but thanks for asking; just feeling a little unsettled.

Thanks very much for the emails from Gozo. I’ve bookmarked the site and can get updates. Cheers! 🙂

  11. HI Bilby, glad to know you are alright.
I have just forwarded two emails from Gozo SPCA to you about a dramatic turn of events.
I’ll try to get another holiday blog on my page soon. Have you visited me there yet?
