  1. My Dad was a Taff and got up in the pub on my stag night in 1968 and gave a belting version of ‘Sosban Fach’. The first and last time he ever sang solo in public. Happy St David’s day to all Taffs from OMG (half Taff) … tidy.

  2. Shame on you jan, that whisky is disgusting, plus they make it elsewhere and rebottle it. I used to live not far from there on the Llandovery side, their factory is on an industrial site to the west of Brecon, next to the fleece place that collects them in. One year, a long time ago when I was up there with some fleeces we went in and took the tour, there is no distillery! All a con!

We have daffodils but no Welshcakes today, the guts won’t take them!

Happy today to us all, too far from home.

  3. Hi folks. Hope you all had a good day. 🙂 Mine was mostly at work looking out on to a blue sky but hey, I was sneaking a listen to Classic FM doing St David’s Day requests so it wasn’t all bad!

A Welsh pal at work gave me a daff because the daffs in my garden are only a couple of inches above the soil – just shows what a late spring it is!

OMG so please to hear that you are half Taff!! Half is better than none 🙂 Your da sounds a character. Half tidy!! 🙂

Well it was only an idea, Tina! I haven’t actually bought any. I thought it was new. Bloody hell, that is SUCH a cheat, not having a distillery. Sssshhhh don’t mention it to John Mackie, we might just get away with it.

The last time I was in Penderyn, I’d gone hoping to bump into some rugged SAS types on manoeuvres. It was a boiling hot day and all we saw were sheep lying down in the shade. But we did discover some fab waterfalls, including one you could walk behind where the local lads were daring each other to leap off the top into the pool below – the kind of thing you only do when you’re fifteen.

  4. No daffs here yet. Even the snowdrops are slow this year – still coming out and hardly any crocus yet.
But today’s the day the Daffs go on sale, to pin on, to support Marie Curie Cancer Care. Do you have one of those yet?

  5. No I don’t Pseu or I’d have worn it. We usually have them to sell at the desk but no-one’s brought us any yet this year. Late, like the real daffs! 😉

  6. Noswaith dda, Janh1.

Belated greetings on St. David’s Day. In honour of the day that’s in it, I am sure that you will be delighted to hear that I have magnanimously (in my opinion) decided to forgive Lee Byrne for being a cheating little toerag after only two weeks of hurt – a nanosecond in Scotch grievance-nursing time.

Moving on, Penderyn single malt! Aye right! Actually choked on a glass of it two years ago during my visit to the gentle, sloping uplands of the flat sort of place that is Wales. I found it interesting and there will, of course, always be a need for sheep dip.

  7. Well Done Janh, I’m still waging a one man campaign to get Dewi Sant recognized instead of that other expat. Welshman, Saint Patrick. We are making some progress but have not convinced the NYC parade authorities yet, maybe next year.

  8. Your forgiveness was misplaced, John. I’m inclined to agree with your harsh but, as it turns out, completely accurate summation.

Good luck with the campaign in 2011, LW!
